When the Lad Died

At first I thought, that’s when he turned into a man… and then an image of Hamilton’s son dying from a duel injury…and then a soul leaving the Earth at a funeral like scene…

Truly poetic Tony in what feels like a most classical form. I loved the rhyme and meter as it flowed so nicely. The poem at first seemed to speak of an angel then a mother at first that he had died and was taken up then that he learned to live a noble life. The ambiguity makes it all the better. Another fave Tony

This is gorgeous, timeless work. It reads like a ballad passed down through generations…full of reverence, detail, and quiet power. “She’s a million poems a thousand poets have penned”...what a line. Wow. That alone is its own tribute. Beautifully done, my friend. 🌹👏 I am deeply moved by this and, as I have said before, you are quite the master poet. Forever in awe.

Have known a few and seen more. The only difference between them and the ones behind bars is they are smarter. Well crafted this poem with great rhyme and a story to tell that is nicely organized and easily identifiable. The character in this poem could easily be any one of a number of politicians or Wall Street bankers but also the guy on the phone selling you a scam. Loved it Tony

Tony this poem has a rambling feel as if it were a the life of one making their way through the world amidst its travails and now time worn and travel tattered they deserve their accolades and dues. It has the feel of a familiar bar where the clientele are all familiar and the atmosphere is friendly. Nicely written in good rhyme and meter it carries a fave from me

Tony, what a beautifully woven piece. The rhythm holds steady like the sea itself...gentle, lyrical, and rich with quiet sorrow. That final turn doesn’t break the tone...it deepens it. A haunting, graceful tribute. 🌹👏
