Tune: Corpus Christi
('Jesus, in thy dear sacrament')
********
Come to our hearts, the Spirit's rain
Refresh our lives again
Abide holy dove, your resting place
May be my heart of grace
Of sun-scorched days and golden rays
Where parched, show us your ways
How is the land of our heart's-field?
What fruitfulness will yield?
If in small showers, or deluge strong
Renew us, so our song
Shall ascend to you, our living Lord
We trust your every word
Through weary heat or cooling balm
Your bring your presence calm
Lord of seasons, weather whate'er
Your love with us you share
River of life you do supply
Your presence here close by
And e'en within hearts cleansed from sin
Your praises fresh begin

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem, mainly in 8686 metre. A sort of Anglo-Catholic hymn, not that well-known. I'm not usually Anglo-Catholic, but the tune stayed with me while visiting such a church.

Blame me for the 'deluge strong' of last weekend (in UK)! You prefer 'small showers'?!
That Spirit's rain is what brings life to us all.
Thanks Gold.
Much needed moisture heavenly father can only give.
Thanks Heart.
I woke to rain this morning Orchi and your lovely words - just perfect!
Thanks Lorna.
It's raining spirit - is it sherry?
It's raining spirit - is it sherry?
Yes, but with the 'water' of the rain added. Pssstt - not me whispering, but the sound of the phantom whisky-waterer's syphon, i.e. me!
But why dust tho play such a wicked game
Wrecking lives with a hurricane
Are they all sinners in the storms set path
Or simply victims of your wrath?
Nice bit of rain will help cure the huge cracks in the clay soil of my back garden i hope.
Thanks dusk.
