CHAINS.

Fay Slimm.

Chains.

The chains
holding me sane distort
and break
at this time of day.

Memory seeps
out of sunset and turns
my heart
red to lonely's yearning.

As sad sheds
its skin regret finds ways
to tint
my sense steadily grey.

After you,
ready-packed, told me
goodbye
it began to rain fear.

Love given
half-heartedly will lack
for smashed
trust is not taken back.

But more
can be said about miss
than tears
at parting's insistence.

Shoulders
must shrug or hope falls
after
loud name-calling palls.

The chains
holding me sane break
their hold
at each folding of day.

Fay, at certain times we become more aware of things. Those that use to fill our days are empty. Never truly empty though. They live on in our memories. You are a marvelous writer!

      • Fay Slimm.

Ah - you are most kind in your comments dear Kat - - - the poem came after I had heard of the way someone I know had been left and how sad it all was. Thank you for your positive input.

        • Heartwriter

I'm all too familiar with the sentiment of your well written piece today Fay. My sanity still holding up as i write.

          • Fay Slimm.

Yes such experiences can take away sanity for a time and the poem came after I had heard it happened to someone I know - - - it is a challenge to believe after trust has bee broken. Thank you dear friend for your sensitive input.

Wow brilliant Fay.......love "shoulders must shrug"........ and the whole sentiment of falling apart at the end of each day........

            • Fay Slimm.

Thanks dear Lorna -- those phrases were only an inkling of what those who have experienced the feeling of being betrayed must be going through -- your comments are always so supportive.

Thanks Michael - - these happenings have to be coped with and though not from experience I felt the need to write on the subject.

My sanity is held by CHAINS
                Memory infiltrates my BRAINS
My sense is shrouded with REGRET
I fear that you would leave me YET
                Half-hearted love will LACK
                Capacity to take you BACK
Name calling ~ my hope DRAINS
My sanity no longer held by CHAINS !

                FAY ~ Please excuse
My fragmentation of your Muse !

Loved it ~ Yours as always ~ BRIAN

                • Fay Slimm.

Ha - - love your summary and rhyme dear Brian - - - glad you found value in the read and your comment is certainly no "fragmentation" - - -- I loved it and feel free any time to post your input on any of my writings. Glad for your visit and interest in my efforts - - if you want a smile have a peep at my posting of yesterday called Up Close - - a fun piece which came after saw a nature prog.

If those chains of sanity break they may let you free to a wonderful life.
                  Good write.
