River Rising

orchidee

Tune: North Coates

('O my Saviour lifted')

*******

Singing sweetly, simply

May your grace aid me

Spirit, sing from my heart

Illumine each part

Whether short or long song

I shall join the throng

Of the heavenly chorus

Which shall you true bless

Keep my heart in tune here

To love you more dear

Help me turn where discord

Back to you my Lord

Where hearts may be heavy

Come, enlighten, see

Spirit, Comforter sure

You grant us grace more

Rivers flow from hearts full

Or trickle where dull

Yet you do us revive

Where we feel deprive[d]

Given life eternal

By your mercies all

Give us wisdom, fulfil

In us your good will

  • Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 6565 metre. Short lines, needing to focus thoughts in writing them. Or else, one has hardly begun, and the allocation of syllables per line is used up! So I am singing sweetly, simply then - not two cats fighting?!

Thanks Michael. Erm dunno. It's like a river rising within us. Symbolic. Who is Mr Simon (Sim) Bolic?

      • Michael Edwards

        Sham's brother methinks 🙂

Any relation to the Berles family?

Sham Berles was Sham Bolics maiden name. Didn't you meet her at Agincourt ?

THANKS AGAIN for a Spiritual Uplift STEVE ~ but I'm reading this at 11:30pm on Thursday Evening ! I have just spoken to ANGELA (who has an afternoon & evening Clinic) and she is reading it @ 10:30 am on FRIDAY MORNING ~ Time Zones always amaze me ~ especially in KENTUCKY USA where depending which side of MAIN STREET you are on its an hour earlier or an hours later ~ "ONLY IN KENTUCKY" where the vast majority voted for TRUMP ! Loved the ORGAN RECITAL and the Poem which endorsed the importance of SINGING & PRAISING lifting our SPIRITS and bringing us nearer to GOD. Some of my extended family are MUSIC TEACHERS and one works with the NATIONAL YOUTH CHOIR ~ AMEN ~ YOURS BRIAN & ANGELA Our FUSION is very topical ~ about ICE CREAM ! Please add a POEM ~ A & B !

I was uplifted by your poem. I love the line where "Rivers flow from hearts full."

Thanks w c. So I suppose there has to be something IN them for it to flow OUT of them.
