Michael Edwards

The tip of the tie

should tickle the belt

any longer than that

and you look a real prat.

So very true Michael. It takes a great deal of practice to get it right and it must also be dead to the braces on the occasion that you where them.

    • Michael Edwards

Ah braces - do you ever wear them ?

      • Goldfinch60

Occasionally on 'posh' occasions so that my rotund body structure looks more rounded.

A fine write Michael. I hardly wear ties. Feel like I'm being hanged, especially in this weather.

        • Michael Edwards

Wore them throughout my professional career but rarely ever since except for funerals and marriages. Oh - nearly forgot - never wore them in my youth - they got caught up in the armour and if they got caught in an arrow you would end up throttled

Ahhhhhhhh MISTER EDWARDS ~ The ubiquitous TIE ~ I have over 50 for all my Clubs & Societies ! I can turn up naked provided I'm wearing the right Kipper Tie and it covers my Tackle !

They threw Him from the Nudist Club
          And here's the reason WHY
Because He turned up on parade
Wearing His Old School Tie !

I'm what the Americans call a GREETER @ Church today. So despite the Weather I am booted & suited ~ Van Heuston long sleeved Shirt (broad blue stripe) and a Blue Royal Society of Chemistry (A very Spiritual Organisation !) TIE ~ just hitting the waistline. At work (remember that !) I always wear a tie for Meetings ~ Interviews ~ Formal Dinners (A Bow Tie if I am Chef de Rang) and if I visit other Colleges as a MODERATOR etc etc. So on balance I am still a TIEMAN for 50% of the time. An interesting SUBJECT ~ My Sister always buys me a TIE @ Christmas one of which plays JINGLE BELLS when least expected ~ SUCH FUN. Thanks for sharing ~ love the Flowers ~ I have some Ties like that that my Granddad wore in the 60's FLOWER POWER ! Every blessing ~ BRIAN TIEMAN !

A man of elegance Brian but not sure about ties that denote membership of prestigious establishments - a bit pretentious?

            • BRIAN & ANGELA

WELL MIKE ~ I went to a School where we had to wear The School Tie everyday and the OST (Oldschooltie) for reunions ! I m very honoured to be a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC) so I wear the TIE for formal dinners etc.I have other Club Ties. My DAD is a GREAT TIEMAN as was his DAD before Him ! I guess its in the JEANS ~ not that I ever wear them ! PRETENTIOUS MOI ? NON NON NON ~ Yours as ever BRIAN PS I'm chairing the 6:30pm Meeting tonight so a sombre Tie (Oxford Blue & Cambridge Blue stripes) ~ B !

Yes I had to wear the school tie AND had to wear the school cap - detention if we were caught without it.

                • Michael Edwards

I had several ties I was expected to wear at formal functions but often opted out. Bit of a rebel really - refused to call teachers Sir - always used their name, Was given formal leave ( after much objection from my father - who when was all said and done was paying the bills) not to attend morning assembly.

                  • BRIAN & ANGELA

THANKS MIKE ~ You sure are a REBEL WITH A CAUSE ~ However despite everything you (in your own imidible way are a Daily Blessing to Angela & I and to a plethora of MPS MEMBERS ~ Thanks for being you ~ Yours Brian & Angela !

                  • dusk arising

Crikey yes ties i remember those.

                    • Michael Edwards

A completely pointless item of clothing why do they persist ?

                    • Laura🌻

                      Michael,

A beautiful splash of colors those flowers do make! Are they all planted in one pot?

A fine short sartorial write to which I agree!

                      ~Laura~

yes - they are double petunias and make a great display. Can someone tell Trump?

                        • Laura🌻

I’m not a declared deplorable! He won’t listen to me!🤷🏻‍♀️

                        • orchidee

How's that evening? You got a tie on this evening there?! None of those nice flowers are wearing ties!
