There was I this Sunday afternoon
Sitting in the coolness of the lounge,
Music was playing for me,
The gentle sound of Morricone.
I picked up my book
And started to read.
The words and the music combined,
Combined in my mind,
Combined in my soul.
My relaxation was complete
As I lost myself in the words on the page,
And the music in air.
The hours flew by in seconds,
Lost in my own world,
Where the troubles of my world
Became invisible in my mind,
As I was lost in music and words.

A fine write and fine way to pass the time. I tried reading in the garden, in the shade, but lasted all of 10 minutes! We best make the most of it while it's here though. We may say later on: 'The sun, not seen it a while now; is it that big yellow thing in the sky?'
Thanks Orchi. we often sit in the garden during the evening reading.
I didn't help myself by going out mid-afternoon, the hottest part of the day. doh!
That is an error of judgement if I may say.
sounds like you were having a good time. I wish I could be like you!
books are fine and so are you.
Thank you onepauly, most kind.
I always have a little envy of people who can write so eloquently of those beautiful moments in life.
My attempts never seem to quite capture the moment or drift off lamenting the transience of it!
I do have these joyful moments. They just evade my linguistic creation!
Thanks for sharing a mindful moment.
Thank you Sylvia, I am sure they will come, you probably have plenty of beautiful moments and you will write of them soon.
Moments of bliss. This morning I will in the studio painting a commission listening to my favourite music with views down the garden - heaven!!
Absolutely Michael, those moments are so very special.
It is a nice place to relax and read in the lounge chair outside. Perhaps an early morning visit wouldn't be so hot! Enjoyed.
Thank you Kat, Joyce and I often spend evenings sitting in the garden reading.
Your piece describes a state i have oft experienced and long to be there again.
You will da, you will.
Andy,
Thank you for the blissful gondola ride accompanied by...
“The gentle sound of Morricone.”
So satisfying getting “lost in music and words.”
Thank you for sharing!
Love to Joyce and you!
~Laura~
Thank you very much Laura, being lost in words and music is wonderful.
Thank you for your love to both of us, it is much appreciated.
Andy
You are both in my thoughts...
every single day!
I have great admiration
for you both!
Thanks ANDY for lifting us UP to a higher PLANE ! Lovely solo piano ~ lyric & video. Love the POEM too ! The SYMBIOSIS of a good book with a background of good music is unsurpassed ~ and thank GOD it eliminates time & space. We are momentarily suspended in Paradise. Every Blessing ~ Love to JOYCE ~ Yours BRIAN & ANGELA.
Thank you A and B for your lovely words. There is nothing quite like being lost in words and music, it takes you to another plane where all problems are forgotten.
Cooee, me wife KP (though I forgot I married her) is avoiding being declared bankrupt. She spent it all on Botox!
