To the End and Beyond.

Goldfinch60

The summit is there above me,

Not much further to go,

I know that this final climb

Will be easy,

The hard part has been done.

I look back and see,

See the high and lows of the path,

The path that I have trod.

Some of the way has been hard,

But each has been overcome.

Some have been easy,

And completed with joy.

Through the journey

Two things have always been with me,

The love in my heart for all

As I met them on the way,

But the most important

Was always with me,

My Spirit never left me,

Never failed me,

Never will fail me.

I look towards the summit

Knowing that there is not far to go,

But knowing that My Spirit

Will be with me to the end,

To the end and beyond,

As we go towards eternity.

I sat with this sheet before me,

Looked up at Calliope

And the words just flowed,

Flowed from where,

From where I do not know.

  • Comment from author about the poem: The second stanza is there just to show how the first one came into my mind. I do not apologise for the length of the video, I could have just chosen the section entitled "the summit" to go with the words but it does not show all the wonder of this piece of music. Enjoy.

Good old Cally. Is she very old? As old as us? Was she there in 1066?
Did we meet her? So many questions - me talking rubbish!
A fine write Gold. Not too near the very top of the summit just yet though?!

Me being sensible - it's the Holy Spirit really, with us and within us. A Person, not an 'it' or a 'force'.
I say, not arrogantly, in a way it's not me that writes the hymn-poems, though I myself do actually put pen to paper, if you see what I mean?

      Three replies!!
I believe that the Holy spirit is within us but it is individual to each and every person in the Universe, that is why I always refer to it as My Spirit.
These words just came this morning, from where I do not know where but they just flowed from my mind onto the page.

THANKS ANDY ~ I like your panache ~ Half a Strauss Symphony is no symphony at all ! I love the POEM because it gives a very positive and optimistic view of LIFE & BEYOND as you look backwards & forward. In the first 21 lines ~ and tell us that your life has been doubly blessed 1. Because of your LOVE for your fellowman ~ and 2. Because you are indwelt by The Holy Spirit ~ who creates within you the FRUIT of the SPIRIT ~ Love ~ Joy ~ Peace etc. You finish with a SEXTET that assures us that as you contemplate YOUR ETERNAL LIFE ~ You have the assurance that the HOLY SPIRIT will be with you as you progress from Earth to Heaven ~ That is Faith in Action ~ AMEN !
I'm only 35 so I hope to have another 55 years with ANGELA & THE HOLY SPIRIT ~ A double blessing. You have given us all a very positive perspective of LIFE & DEATH. I appreciate I could die tomorrow but I know I am HEAVEN bound ~ AMEN. Thanks for your "Blessed Assurance" Yours as ever BROTHER BRIAN !
I love it when the MUSE (Calliope) moves ~ it always produces something Perfect ~ AMEN.

Doh, you're gonna be 117, you say! Or another 55 years of me singing. Arrgghhh!

        • Goldfinch60

Thank you Brian, My Spirit is always with me ( and with Calliope).

I had to hold back my 18+ watchdog. He is getting carried away, and not noticing the '18+' tick box on some poems! Woof, down Rover, not now!
(Note to self: Put that sherry down!).

Your journey has been a lifetime with some experiences yet to come. Such a beautiful climb.

          • Goldfinch60

Thank you w c, it has been and will be a wonderful journey - see you in eternity.
