HIGH FIVES

Michael Edwards

HIGH FIVES

The ‘High Five’ gesture seems to be spreading

( it’s certainly something you’ll not catch me doing ).

I’m sorry I really don’t mean to whinge

but it’s something that always makes me cringe.

In order to obtain its abolition

Would anyone care to sign my petition?

The 'finger' seemed to catch on quite quickly and somehow has replaced the good old Brit V sign - no not Winnies version.
High five has i guess pros and cons for replacing the pat on the back jesture. With so much trash american TV coming U.K. way is it any wonder?

Thanks dusk - perhaps it\'s because I like to rejoice in my stiff British upper lip but I do find the import of language and gestures (wherever they come from) to be awfully irritating don\'t you know. 🙂

Not quite the sort of thing one does does one!

One should always shake hands should not one.
      I will sign your petition.

      • Michael Edwards

A shake of the hands is so much more civil and one expects no more in refined circles.

Super artwork Michael. As you know I really do enjoy your abstract works, to me I can read so much into them.

Are you not 'cool?' If you don't give youth a HF they will say you are not cool! Tally-ho there. Maybe it's not spiffing to do HF's?

        • Michael Edwards

Oh no I do not entertain High Fives - they make me feel squiffy by Jove

          Michael,

I’m with you on this one!
          You’ve got my signature!

          Love your abstract painting!
Each time I look at it,
          I have a different interpretation...
          most pleasing indeed!

          ~Laura~

Thank you - I'll stick the form in the post .

              😄

Count me in Michael --the high five is an American import that sets my teeth on edge too - - yet I tell myself making contact that way is at least better than making war.........

              • Michael Edwards

Thank goodness I am not alone - forms in the post !!

              • orchidee

Oh well, it'll make me feel young, and 'cool', if I do HF's. Does Miss Berles do them? How old is she?

                • Michael Edwards

She can't be that old - she's still very Nim Berle

                • sylviasearcher

Would signing the petition mean I can't even do an ironic hi five? 😱🖐

                  • Michael Edwards

Nope - not even a gas mark five - the rules are very strict.

                    • sylviasearcher

                      I'm sorry I just can't do it 😪

                    • BRIAN & ANGELA

GOOD EVENING MICHAEL ~ I'm packed for tomorrow so I can spend a few minutes on MPS. Angela is fast asleep (4am in NZ) and she will post tomorrow. Have you ever been to NZ or is it DEJA VU ? We are going to the BAY of ISLANDS (N Island ~ NZ) next week and your abstract looks like TARONUI BAY from the Air. I may post it next week ~ OK ?
HIGH FIVES (Jazz Age or Baseball origin ?) is another USA Export (like the BIG MAC & Cheer Leaders) we would be better off without ! HOWEVER with BREXIT heading for the EXIT its "BE NICE TO DONALD WEEK" (That's DUCK not TRUMP !). So to preserve the USA as a Free Trade Area ~ I'm HIFIVIN' everyone ! Yours as always BRIAN
