EARLY BIRD 3 & 4

Michael Edwards

The early bird gets the worm

Another reason to stay in bed.

The early bird gets the worm

He’d get a Danish pastry if he gets up later.

Worms are best served sauteed in a red wine and chocolate sauce and served with slugs tails and steamed nettle leaves.

    • Michael Edwards

Do they need any seasoning Andy?

      • Goldfinch60

Just a pinch of rock salt and fours turns of black pepper from a good pepper mill.

        Those birds being early again?
Maybe that's how we make humble pie: Slugs and snails and puppy dog's tails? Aww, they must stop cutting off dog's tails. Have worms instead.

Great substitute for spaghetti - with worm cast sauce.
Who was the comedian who used to say: 'Slither'?l

Roy Jay, so Google says. Never heard of him! lol.

You've got it - he was really odd - not like us eh Orchi

Is Miss Berles odd? Does she always use an odd number of syllables in her poems?

                • Michael Edwards

Yes, unlike her sister Eve N Berles

'The berles, the berles' - Quasimodo with an accent of some sort.

Thanks for the quote Orchi - it rings a bell somewhere.

Thanks MICHAEL ~ As a Conservationist I am very protective of EARTHWORMS ~ like People who work UNDERGROUND (Miners & Tube Train Workers) we dont always appreciate them. I teach Environmental Sciend to Nursery Nurses and we build wormeries in perspex boxes so the can observe them at work. Some of them have never handled a WORM. We teach then how to teach the Preschool Children to have respect for all ANIMALS & Insects. They are all integral parts of the ECOLOGICAL CYCLE. Urban Man has opted out of the Natural Cycles so INSECTS are regarded as a NUISANCE ! Thanks for sharing ~ YOURS form AUCKLAND ~ BRIAN.

Thanks - yes the entire cycle of nature and ecology in general is sadly misunderstood by many and so often not understood at all.

                        Michael,

I’ll let the worms live another day!
Since I got up late this morning, I’ll have a croissant; or as my mom says, “I’ll have a ‘cornetto’ with my ‘latte e caffé’!”

                        I enjoyed today’s couple!

                        ~Laura~
P.S.-The tagliatelle with the bolognese sauce were delicious yesterday!

You're making my mouth water - with plenty of parmesan no doubt.

                          • Laura🌻

                            Oh yes...lots of Parmesan!

                            Today’s specialty...
                            Cucuzza parmigiana!
Have you ever seen or know about zucchini that look like baseball bats?

                            • Michael Edwards

Not sure which one you mean but there are so many different shapes (and colours) of fruit in the squash family. I think the family latin name is concurbita or something like that. Also the common names tend to be different in different countries - I know a zucchini as being what we would call a baby marrow. To make it more confusing there is also the gourd family and i get lost as to which is which.

We do get cucuzza over here but only in specialist supermarkets and I have to admit it\\\'s not something I have tried. But then I much prefer mature marrows to courgettes which i find a tad bitter by comparison.

If you’re curious to know about the cucuzza I’m talking about, search the following on YouTube ...
