Hopeful Help

Tune: St Anne

('O God our help in ages past')

Psalm 142

*******

I cried to the LORD with my voice

Still in Him I rejoice

To Him I made supplication

He LORD of each nation

Before Him I showed my complaint

Troubled, I weary, faint

When overwhelmed was my spirit

Still you my path had lit

In the way where I walked my foes

Laid snares, did me oppose

I looked for Help, no man would know

Me, nor be concerned so

Refuge failed me, bereft my soul

I cried, LORD, make me whole

For you my refuge and portion

God for me you have done

O hear my cry, for I am low

My enemies you know

They stronger than me, my soul bring

From prison, then I sing

Sing to you, praise your name, resound

The righteous me surround

For you shall deal bountifully

With me, your servant be
