LIMERICK No 53

Michael Edwards

A timorous traveller born in Belize

throughout his travels was never at ease

and when questioned why

he explained with a sigh:

‘There are too many foreigners overseas’

    Good limerick Michael.

The artwork amused me as soon as I saw it, my day has started well.

  • dusk arising

Whilst trying so hard not to show it
    Our chivalrous wordsmith the poet
    Had stopped buying grass
It's a thing of my past
For indeed he's now known to grow it

(not bad for the spur of the moment)

    • Michael Edwards

Not bad? It's damn good! Thanks dusk.

One night as dusk was arising
Something happened which was quite surprising
      Dusk picked up a sponge
      All covered in gunge
Which dusk ate and found quite appetising

      • dusk arising

Oh dear Oh dear Mr Edwards
how funny those things wot you said was
i was half of a slumber
when i read your last number
for laid down, neath a quilt, in my bed was

          Nice one - blimey:

Now it's my turn says I scratching head
While dear old dusk lies there in bed
          but the ideas wont come
          I think I'll succumb
for my brain cells have all gone quite dead!

          🙂 🙂 🙂

Dear dusk stay in bed all day
now that you've had your say
              there can't be much more
              in the poetry store
and it's turning my hair steel grey.

              • dusk arising

I'm sure your grey hair looks real cute
and matches your very best suit
but don't matter what i wear
                people stop and they stare
cos on top i'm bald as a coote

You're so lucky your hairs turned to grey
                forever postponing the day
                cos its hardly a hoot
when you're bald as a coote

How many berles in this limerick - Cilla Berles?

                • Michael Edwards

No and we can't seem to get away this year - waiting for hernia op - got lumps everywhere - so travel ideas gone in the bin along with other Disposa Berles.

                • Fay Slimm.

This limerick sums up what is wrong with most folk - - the "we " and "them" to their mind is no joke. Love the telling artwork too Michael.

                    Michael,

Your fine limerick speaks the truth!
Love your sculptures! Nostalgic for me. They remind me of my great grandfather’s house. Thank you for sharing!
