Days of Future Passed.

Goldfinch60

It was a strange start,

I had been up for a few hours,

Reading and writing poetry,

Feeling alright,

But not the brightest.

We got in the car,

The music came on,

And there blasting out

Came the sound of a band,

And that sound propelled me

Into a day that was filled with joy.

That music changed my day,

My world was wonderful,

All due to that album,

The Days of Future Passed.

  • Comment from author about the poem: The Moody Blues have been one of my favourite progressive rock bands since the 1960's. This album from 1967 changed the face of music as the band played with a concert orchestra. Whenever I hear this album my feelings are lifted into another dimension. I have recently bought the DVD of the 50th anniversary concert of this album. YES they are still around.

      • BRIAN & ANGELA

Thanks UNCLE ANDY : Its 8:30 pm (Saturday) here so Brian has flown! YES a single tune can change the mood of a Day : AMEN. Brian & I love all genres of MUSIC and its nice when Pop Groups like the BEATLES (with Ravi Shankar) and the MOODY BLUES (with a Full Orchestra & Recitation) break through and coalesce with a completely different Musical Genre. The combination always eclipses the sum of the Individually Genre : especial in the clip you have posted : AWESOME ! Thanks for commenting on (what you called) our "Postcards from New Zealand" much appreciated. Blessings and LOVE to JOYCE : Angela XXXX
Thanks for checking my LAMENT : ALONE AGAIN : UNNATURALLY : ANGELA 🧡

Great to listen back to those prog rock days. King Crimson were probably my fav's but soon brass rock and jazz rock stole me away.

          • Goldfinch60

Jazz classical and jazz infuse my world most of the time but I still listen to most types of music.

Thank you. Now I'm gonna have to listen to that whole album again--I expect it to be immensely pleasurable.

              Andy,

You are an amazing influence! After having read your fine poem, I tried to listen to the video you posted, but a message said that it was not available. So I researched it and found it! I listened to all seven recordings! Super enjoyed them! You made my day much brighter! Music always perks me up...more so than a cup of coffee!😉
              Thank you for sharing!

              Love to Joyce and you!

              ~Laura~

              • Goldfinch60

Thank you Laura, I am glad that you enjoyed the music, once you found it. I have all their albums.
Music has the ability to lift you up (good coffee comes a close second though).
