Tune: St Leonards
('May the mind of Christ my Saviour')
*******
Help us, Lord, each thought bring captive
Unto you, our Lord and King
If they displeasing to you be
Show us, even me
Offering self to you daily
So too our minds transformed be
Where habitual patterns stuck we [pray]
Give strength, set us free
So to think, have mind renewed to
Ever think Christ-like anew
Meditating, contemplating
And of you we sing
Disturbed, distracted, or fretful
We turn to you, on you call
Daily studying the Scriptures
Show your ways to us
And in listening in prayer times
About matters of life's rhymes
And asking in prayer, so may we
Pray what your will be
Rest a while, think sometimes deeper
Commune with your Lord, and stir
Your best thoughts that by Him inspired
Have been holy fired
Going on each step, securely
Changed to Christ's image we be
His Spirit our thinking He guides
And in us resides

Orchi,
A beautiful share for a calm and soothing read for this Monday morning! Have a wonderful day!
~Laura~
Thanks Laura.
Yes He is within us all.
Thanks Gold.
YOU ALWAYS MAKE YOUR WORK LOOK SO EASY - OOPS GOT CAPS KEY ON -that's better.
Thanks Michael, for shouting out the comment (capitals). Erm well it helps if I know what I'm on about! If I dunno what I'm on about, how will anyone else know?! lol. I try not to be too cryptic, or else it's too much thinking. Though this poem is partly about thinking!
I thought so!
Very soothing Orchi........ nice one!
Thanks Lorna.
WOW UNCLE STEVE ~ What are you ON ! Instead of a Geriatric Group in a Gothic Church we are treated to a very operatic rendering of MAY THE MIND ~ Always a fave of my Parents ~ Beautiful. Loved the video backgrounds as well. That treat was ameliorated by the POEM ! Meditating ~ Offering ~ Remaining ~ Scriptures ~ Listening ~ Communing ~ Moving forward one step @ a time ! Is this the Daily experience of the retired Christian ? Roll on 2053 (I'll be 70 !) Thanks STEVE for lifting me up on a day when I still mopsing for ANGELA & AUCKLAND ! Yours as ever BRIAN.
Thanks Brian. I seem to choose the first one or two clips that show on the search screen usually. Back to geriatrics soon maybe - no one under 90 in the congregation. I know a place - almost!
We must not knock it really, but know what you mean - a bit of 'oomph' needed! you might say 'Oh no, not an 'oldie' clip again! heehee.
You really are a master of this particular genre my literary friend.. Although I personally follow a Buddhist path, I was raised as a Christian and very much admire your hymn poem compositions.. All Good Things, Neville
Thanks Neville.
