MIRAGE.

Fay Slimm.

Mirage.

As I caught the scent of crystalline
charm I felt I must buy it.

Inside the shape
of blown-glass were imaginary forms
of curled serpentine convolutions.
Paperweight spirals
snaked upward, black-lined core
transformed writhing tendrils
of scintillation from asp
into fish then serpent then  bird.

Meandering talent
wrought sinuous kinks from wavering
images of silver-pearl frames,
swirling forms revealed
nature in movement, a unique talent
coiled reptilian likeness
by fluent changes in congealed space
as entwined silhouettes
rotated throughout lit opalescence.

Encased in transparent artistic whirls
of configuration both sculptor
and I shared the excitement of blown
shape-shifting mystery.

Clearly bent on twisting
my heartstrings that vitrified mirage
sensed I could not resist.

And as I viewed the aim of petrified
glass I knew I must have it.

A fine write Fay. I saw something as old as me - a petrified decorative fossil, of about 200 million years ago. Don't drop it on a hard surface, it might shatter after all those years!

I'm mad about paperweights! I'm so glad you got your hands on it!!! Better than all the jewelry in the world.
    Lovely images Fay...

Paperweights can be so magical to look at, as are your words.

Thank you FAY ~ GLASS is an awesome material ~ a supercooled liquid, which is why it is transparent. The form of 3D glass objects d'arte is infinite and I am always intrigued by them. I am a Technical Glassblower and can make & repair Scientific Glassware ~ OK. ANGELA has a collection of Glass and also Lladro Pottery. I love the language in your Poem it brings the World of decorative Glass alive ! Entwined silhouettes ~ rotated throughout lit opalescence ! You came ~ You saw and the GLASS conquered YOU ! Another perfect Poem ~ Yours as always BRIAN. Love the photo ~ Thanks.
