1066 and all that rubbish!

orchidee

Cooeee - Hi there!

Well, it's not that far away now

The 1066 annual reunion

Remembering the Battle of Hastings

In the UK in 1066

You've not heard of it?

Or you've forgotten it?

Well, it's an annual reunion

Anyone can go on one condition

You have to have been there in person

In 1066

Now there's a few poets who were there

Myself, Goldfinch, Michael Edwards

Maybe more

Were you there?

Check your old diaries to have a look

Did you go there last October?

October 14th is the actual date

I'm going again

And I'm taking my dog with me

A watchdog, ya know

He barks at anyone not marking up their poem as 18+

If it should be marked so

His bark is worse than his bite though

Sometimes he barks too much

But it's to save me swooning at some poems

Woof! Not now Fido!

It's a completely barmy reunion

They act out the battle too

I'm in it

I mucked it up

I said to Harold 'Look up, Sire'

And he did, at that fateful moment

When an arrow flew through the air, and....

The rest is history!

See ya there - maybe!

(Orchi's just eccentric, ya know!)

I did tell Orchi not to look up but as usual he ignored my request as he was sneaking some water into my whisky!!

    • Michael Edwards

All that rubbish indeed - the field was scattered with cannon shot, bits of armour, and an eye - was it yours?
      Great funloads !!

Thanks Michael. Oh, the clip gives an alternative ending - arrow in the eye, or hacked to death!

        • Michael Edwards

Love the clip - wish I could run like that.

are you referring to an actual re-enactment event here.. I have several friends who regularly participate in these things...

the animated film clip was very good..

                • orchidee

Thanks N. Well, not exactly re-enactments. I mean, I am very old, and was there in person in 1066 (heehee) so I'm about 980 years old now - so I say! You dug out this rubbish - the poem?! lol.
