SWISHING IN THE LEAVES ~ AUTUMN 2017 ~ ESSEX
COLOUR OF THE LEAVES
match & mask red apples still
swaying on the tree !
SWISHING through the LEAVES
something i enjoyed as child
still at THIRTY FIVE !
GARDEN BONFIRES ~ such
awesome Sight ~ Sound and Smell ~ now
COMPOST ~ CLEAN AIR ACT !
LEAVES ~ like some people
Their end ~ better ~ colourful
than GREEN beginning !
AUTUMN ~ OASIS
between ~ long hot SUMMER ~ and
a short cold WINTER !
Thanks for visiting ~ comments welcome ~ Love BRIAN XOX
Personally I find AUTUMN a very evocative Season
for Poetry. The incredible colour changes in the
Leaves as ANTHOCYANINS replace CHLOROPHYLL
and the leaves FALL to conserve the plants energy.
We used to have great Leaf Bonfires (awesome
aroma). Now we are paradoxically "greener" we
compost them for fertiliser. I guess the Grandeur
of Autumn signals a significant change in Season
as the Joys of Summer morph into the Pleasures
of Winter ~ Parties Pantomimes Christmas New
Year and all the slippy ~ slidy Winter Sports. We
all invent things for AUTUMN ~ things HISTORICAL
like Bonfire Night & Thanksgiving and things more
HYSTERICAL like HALLOWEEN and TRICK or TREAT !
This POEM is for ANGELA who is enjoying SPRING in
AUCKLAND and also the MUSIC because she adores
(and plays) Classical Guitar ! Happy FALL to ALL !

GOOD AFTERNOON SWEETHEART : Thanks for dedicating this to me! You know how much I love swishing through the leaves with you! Its seems strange here (NZ) with the new leaves just sprouting on the Trees and yours are turning GOLD! Miss you lots each day : nice to talk earlier. Enjoy your Birthday Celebrations & dont get DRUNK! All my love always ANGELA XXXX
I've noticed the Horse Chestnuts leaves are already brown and beginning to fall and I also recall that wonderful smell of burning leaves - great write Brian.
Autumn is my favourite time of the year. Nature’s tapestry is beautiful.
A fine write B&A.
