Sidewalk? What's a sidewalk asks he with tongue in cheek. I'll ponder this as I walk down the pavement to the art show in the School at the bottom of the Lane. Sales slow yesterday but hopeful for today.
Thanks MICHAEL ~ I had KRISS' poem in mind when I wrote the POEM. They sing a good duet and the song is perfect for JOHNNY who was a delightful blend of SAINT & SINNER. I love Local Art Shows and always buy SOMETHING ! I have an upper limit of £100 cos Im saving up for House (or Flat) in 2020 ! Hope you have a better set of PUNTERS today ~ local art (to my mind) is always worth the asking PRICE ! Yurs as always BRIAN !
Thanks Brian - sadly mine all start at £100 unless they are mounted unframed.
Cheers Michael
HOLA SWEETHEART : Love this song and the duet by Johnny & Kriss is perfect! The line in your Poem : On a Sunday Mornin' Sidewalk : With my BABY by my side : It made me cry because I love all our Sundays in Essex and we were together all day! Walking to Church sometimes on the door (Greeters!) hugging the folks as they came in and then your Mums (Sunday Roast) for dinner or my Mamas for Tapas y Tortillas & Rioja. Those days are 12 months away and it makes me melancholy! Loved our SKYPE earlier : its 10am now and Ruth (she sends her Love) & I are just having supper Toast & NZ Honey and hot milk with honey scrumptious! Todo de mi Amor : Muchos Abrazos y Besos : ANGELA 🧡🧡🧡🧡
GRACIAS SWEETHEART ~ Pleased you enjoyed the Poem \'n Video. Whenever I write a POEM ~ You are \"Always on my Mind !\" Love you lots ~ every Blessing love to Ruth ~ Todo de mi Amor Tambien ! Abrazos y Besos a la distancia ! Tu Hombre Guapo ~ BRIAN XOXOXOX
A lovely write, but sometimes I add 'I wish....'
Well, I will keep calling into some dull churches.
The 'geriatric' part can't be helped in some places. At least they are faithful. But are some places 'dying off' spiritually and physically?
Sometimes it seems some outside of church are having more fun than those inside, even if playing football, going shopping, etc. A pity! Rant over! lol.
Thanks UNCLE STEVE ~ I understand your lament _ pleased yo enjoyed the Poem & Video etc. My ELDERS tell me the rot set in after WW2 (1950 onwards) and Sunday became Secular ~ Commercial ~ Recreational & devoted to profession Sport and Church Attendance declined. The Church became Elite & Anachronistic. The Churches that have survived are \"Anchored to the ROCK and geared to the TIMES\". Angela & I ~ and our Parents ~ have always gone to Church and we (and our progeny) always will. Personally (@ 35) I enjoy myself more in Church on a Sunday ~ Praising & Worshipping GOD ~ than i would with Sand in my Sandwiches on a BEACH ! I supprot KEEP SUNDAY SPECIAL ~ but i cant see the U K reverting to a Victorian Sunday ever again ! Thanks for caring ~ BRIAN
Thanks Brian. It can't be helped - not just cos I'm very old (so I say!) but because some churches just happen to be mainly elderly folk. Then I read that CofE attendance has gone down. I could sleight it more - men in funny long dresses in church (robes), etc. But not to be irreverent.
Well, I was at a good regular CofE until about 2000. Then I went to Charismatic/Pentecostal a while. From mid-2016 onwards I have been mainly CofE again. I thought 'What's happened? Where is everyone?' etc. I haven't got that far further on really.
Sometimes it's just 'messing about'. And some CofE Infant Baptisms (scriptural?) can be real pantomimes, if the child plays up. But who wouldn't? Terrifying being held over a font. Are they going to drown me?
And ghastly 'forced do-the actions to the songs. A pet horror of mine!
Great poem Brian! Yes, it is great to be Sunday! Sister Christina
GRACIAS NUESTRA HERMANA CHRISTINA ~ como estes ahora ? I know you appreciate Sunday as much as ANGELA and I do and we really love some of the big churches in America with fantastic facililites and a "ALL AGE PROGRAM !" The Churches are smaller in the UK & New Zealand but some are just as vibrant. I highlighted JOHNNY & KRISS for the Americans and I heard the Story from KRISS of him landing on JOHNNYS lawn at the JC Memorial Concert led by Kriss in The Opery in Nashville in 2003 when I was 20 ! We must do our best in our own Communities to "Keep Sunday Special" and tea ch our KIDS to do the Same. Im just off the Evening Youth Service and Angela is dreaming in Auckland @ 4am Monday Morning (9/10). Im thinking of AMERICA TUESDAY (9/11) which will be the 17th Anniversary of the TWIN TOWERS MASSACRE. Every Blessing ~ Abrazos y Besos BRIAN 😎 y ANGELA 🧡
Thank you for thinking of america on tuesday when she sustained hits at the twin towers, the pentagon and one that was overcome in a field. My son just 3 months old at the time and I at a job interview when it happened, the world just stopped. Fast forward to 2014, I lost my mother on that same fateful day and the world stopped again. Thanks for your message. I miss them. Abrazos y besos Christina and J
Good faith filled poem Brian.
That is a terrific song, I have heard it so many times that I vertually know it by heart.
Great read and I had to do it with kriss narrating in the back of my mind, great actor, singer and a really nice guy all round. Thanks for sharing
