VILLAGE BY THE LAKE ~ BRIAN

BRIAN & ANGELA

BELLINI ~ THE VILLAGE BY THE LAKE

I REMEMBER WELL ~ The Village by the Lake

Went there in the 30's ~ I was only eight

I know it was in ITALY ~ called BELLINI

But we never went again ~ War sealed our fate

My DAD went in the ARMY ~ but He never came back

My MUM tried hard to raise us in our lonely shack

Alas without my DAD ~ she died of grief one day

So very sad to say ~ She just faded away

We had a painting of  BELLINI ~ and I told my Kids

The nicest place nicest place I'd ever seeny

So one year in the 60's ~ instead of SPAIN

I decided to see BELLINI ~ once again !

My wife & Kids were so excited

As for me ~ I was delighted

We booked a Plane to ROME

And planned to drive ~ to my Childhood Home

I bought a map the biggest I could find

BUT NO BELLINI ~ was I going blind ?

I asked at AIR ITALLIA ~ The Man said with a frown

BELLINI don't exist MAN ~  it's a FANTASTORIC TOWN !

I showed him my PAINTING and he said

Zat Village has been painted from inside ze artists 'ed

Did I really go there ~ was it a Childhood Dream

NO COS I still can taste ~ Italian Ice Cream !

Thanks for visiting ~ This is my SPOOKY CONTRIBUTION

to HALLOWEEN ! Comments welcome ~ Love BRIAN🧡🧡🧡🧡

Have you ever been to visit somewhere which no longer

exists ? Near to where I lived (In Liverpool) was a very

Spooky Woods where we played Cowboys & Indians and

later learned the Facts of Life !  When we visited Liverpool

~ last year it had been replaced by an ALDI !  Who should

be on the checkout (right where our DEN used to be !) but

BIG BERTHA (now 36) our F O L Tutor. ANGELA was amused

later when I told her why we had given each other such a big

HUG & KISS. She thought it was one of my 34 Liverpool Cousins !

Italy is probably my favourite country and there are villages not so different to the picture. Bellini may not exist but it does have a flavour of the country - and love the poem (which does exist of course). 🙂

Thanks UNCLE MIKE ~ Yes when I saw the picture it reminded me of Villages on Lake Como etc which moved my MUSE to write the POEM ~ Pleased you liked it ~ Yours as always BRIAN !

I am trying to write about Venice at the moment but have never been so it is all in my head. Imagination unspoiled by truth!

I used to have a childhood memory of a place which I was unsure if real or a dream.
I'm still not sure even though I wrote an essay as an undergraduate about this and what we know about 'memory'

I don't think it was bellini though?

Thanks SYLVIA ~ People ~ Places & Palaces can get in our minds ! That was the purpose of my Allegorical Poem. VENICE is like nowhere else on earth ! The main streets are canals and the Taxis are GONDOLAS or little power boats ! Personally I don\\\'t think you can write about it until you\\\'ve been ! It assaults all you senses Sight ~ Sound ~ Scent ~ Savour & Touch simultaneously and if you go at Carnival Time it is Pure Fantasy ! Beast wishes but try to visit VENICE asap ! Yours as always BRIAN

I was hoping if some publisher likes my book they may pay for me a trip so I can rewrite my chapters. But I do live in a secret fantasy world in my head! 🙃

A fine write Brian. is the place is still spooky! Aldi is scary - is it?! Dunno, hardly ever been in there.
You're older than me then, if you went there in the 30's.

          • BRIAN & ANGELA

Thanks UNCLE STEVE ~ The poem is allogorical of course so I became 88 (born in 1930) to recount & relive the Story ! Pleased you liked it there are some places which really get under your skin ~ Like AUCKLAND is affecting ANGELA ! In real live I\'m still only 35 but in an allogorical poem I can be any age ~ OK Yours as always BRIAN

GREETINGS BIG BEAR : Its 9:30 am FRIDAY HERE. I have my first Clinic @ 11 pm so I will leave for Work shortly. Just reading MPS : I see you have commented on most of our GROUP ! I found your Fantasy Poem interesting and it borders on DEJA VU etc but in a reverse way. A Person who visited an Italian Lakeside Village at EIGHT and then 30 later unable to locate it. All he had was a painting no photos : it is kinda SPOOKY. Love the Picture & the Poem and the comments ! I can vouch for the close encounter with BIG BERTHA in ALDI : Hillarious ! Abrazos y Besos con MI AMOR : ANGEL 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡

Very good write Brian. It is amazing what images our minds can conjure up into our reality.
It is a very good painting.

THANKS UNCLE ANDY ~ I am always looking for paintings that will stir my muse and this one captivated me. I visualised a young English Boy visiting it with His parents (before WW2) and then about 30 years later being unable to find it again ~ it happens ! I have always had a good imagination and I love Science Fiction (and Fact !). It has had some nice comments which is the essence of MPS. Blessings & Angela sends her Love to You & Joyce 🧡🧡🧡🧡
