Practice Laps.

Goldfinch60

We come into our world

Full of ignorance.

From the time we are born

Our learning progresses

As each second passes.

Knowledge is gained,

Gained by experience,

Gained from others.

We each grow in differing ways,

We each go down our own paths,

Each path different from others.

We may meet occasionally

But those paths always diverge

As we go our own way.

We may never know,

Never know what is around the corner,

Or what is through the door.

Life is always exciting,

As the unknown can frightening.

That fright can be countered

Once we have that knowledge,

That knowledge that we learn.

The unknown in our lives

Is there to be conquered,

As in life,

There are no practice laps.

  • Comment from author about the poem: A friend and I were talking bout this and that and he said "Of course in life there ain't no practice laps" - hence this poem. Red Priest are the group playing and sometimes when I hear them I am convinced that there are more than four of them playing, of course Piers Adams does play two recorders at once sometimes. I would love to see them live.

Only the race itself and I'm on the final lap. Depressing thought - great write but I think I do prefer the original music to this version interesting as it is.

I too am on the final lap but I hope that it is a very long lap.

I too like the original but Red Priest are a wonderful group. I have also got the Four Seasons by Max Richter on his album called "Recomposed" that is interesting as well.

You in a racing car, or on a horse, or running, or walking those laps, or what M? I'm doing the laps on the horse I used in 1066. He still runs!

THANKS UNCLE ANDY ~ l LOVE YOUR eclectic choice of MUSIC and I consider that this CHOICE for this AUTUMN is very very apt. Ive only seen the DOUBLE RECORDER PLOY in a Circus ~ must try it sometime ! Love the POEM ~ It is often the Path Less Taken ~ that results in the most memorable moments ! Your Friend as always ~

Are they having fun or what! Thanks for sharing them Andy!

          • Goldfinch60

They surely are having fun, I have never had the opportunity to see them live,I have many of their recordings though.

Plenty of laps for us, having been around since 1066 at least!
Hope the laps are not like that so-called comedy show 'Ever decreasing circles'. I can't stand the main guy in it. It's a disgrace using fine comedy actors in it.

            • Goldfinch60

Those laps will always be there.
