Tune: Diademata
('Crown Him with many crowns')
********
Christ, homelessness did know
An inn-keeper did show
A stable, manger, at His birth
Yet still there joy and mirth
For He the Saviour born
Upon first Christmas morn
Mary, Joseph, and animals
Looked out from pens and stalls
And in His life at times
Were unsettled the rhymes
Not cosy, easy, comforting
Though life He did all bring
Look on your world, Lord, see
Where true homelessness be
And grant your aid, direct, inspire
To meet needs of the hour
Lighten with your light pure
Illuminate us sure
To seek for justice and for right
Each precious in your sight
Rich in their mansions high
And poor, not far, but nigh
How comes to each estate, you know
And their current life so
Helping vulnerable
And poor, may we hear call
To do what we can in your name
Not to accuse or blame
For all life's areas
You know, share in their cares
In your love, basic dignity
To each human there be

Very true Orchi, in this day and age homelessness should be non-existent, but those who have the money and power to do anything about it just do nothing except line their own pockets.
Thanks Gold. Yes, I gave to a chap once or twice. I can't always buy Big Issue, etc, though he sees me often in town.
Great sentiments Orchi
Thanks M.
a very apt and timely post my friend.. a subject very dear to my own heart.. I held two clinics every week for over ten years at a local night shelter and soup kitchen... There are so many misconceptions about the homeless and most of them far from accurate.... what is a fact is that no one in their right mind sets out to become either homeless or addicted to anything... also, anyone can suddenly find themselves without shelter... there are various degrees of homelessness from those sleeping rough under bridges and shop doorways to those who sofa surf... many of those who are in this situation have mental health problems.... I was once homeless for about 6 months when a young man.. I tried to sleep in a local church but the vicar evicted me...finally, there are those who rise from rock bottom and make something of themselves... there.. rant over... a slight deviation methinks and an enjoyed one at that.. N
Thanks N. I wouldn't like it at all to be homeless, whatever season of the year it was.
No, there is absolutely nothing good, romantic or positive about being homeless whatever the time of year...
Thanks UNCLE STEVE ~ A timely reminder @ advent. JESUS born homeless ~ You couldnt make it up ! I was a Trustee of the Local YMCA FOYER for 42 (16 to 25's) moving from INSECURITY to SECURITY ! It really opened ones eyes to the NEED. WE have recently purchased a BUS and fitted it out with 10 sleeping spaces ~ kitchen ~ shower etc to rescue "ROUGH SLEEPERS" during the worst of an ESSEX WINTER & prevent DEATH ~ AMEN. Two gifts of £25,000 enabled us to have the BUS ready for JANUARY 2019. I our area NO ONE needs to sleep ROUGH but some CHOOSE TO ~ OK. Thanks for caring ~ BRIAN. Angela tells me its not a Christmas problem in New Zealand because CHRISTMAS comes in the Middle of Summer and in mid-Winter in AUCKLAND it seldom drops below 10 C (50 F) ~ no wonder she wants to stay forever
Love & Blessings BRIAN & ANGELA 🧡🧡🧡🧡
Loved the HYMN & The Albert Hall ~ Both my favourites ! BRIAN
