Dusk And Dawn

orchidee

Tune: St Clement

('The day thou gavest, Lord, is ended')

***********

Lord, give wisdom to all the nations

Both small and great, of all stations

That they collective, individual

Your kingdom seek, your will fulfil

Midst troubles, struggles, or distractions

Help us live as your daughters, sons

Witnesses in your world, you reign o'er

Your earth and heaven evermore

In faith we trust none e'er surprises

You, though oppression up rises

Against you and your people here placed

Yet still your good hand we have traced

Bring light, salvation, understanding

Guide us and guard us in each thing

To glorify you, that be our aim

And reverence too your great name

'Til final evening of the world come

All human activity done

Then you shall come, gather your people

We with you shall dwell eternal

Give repentance while days do remain

And your forgiveness clear and plain

Empower us to gather harvest

Then safe for e'er in endless rest

fight the good fight tho never the twain shall meet coz in between there's day and night ....

Thanks Neville. Ahh, you saw me recent poem then, to the tune of that well-known wedding hymn: 'Fight the good fight'! lol. The video is of Salisbury Cathedral. I hob-nob a bit with the Bishop of Salisbury ya know. Well I did, when he was with a previous church, before he was a Bishop. That Cathedral is having its organ re-done. Does that mean no singing then? I should go there then!

      • Neville

My Father in Law was formally the Bishop of Peterborough's Advisor... and tho retired, he is still around... You did say twas the Cathedral was having its organ re-done and not the Bishop didn't you........

        • orchidee

Erm yes N, the cathedral organ! lol. Oohh, a Minister here in local town now works part-time as some Evangelism Advisor to the Archbishop of Canterbury. A fine guy you could ever meet - not upper class or snooty, High-Church.

Thanks Gold. We're hob-nobbing with Bishops here? You know any socially?

I think Dusky was a bit of a bully - she was always pushing Dora Jar
