Supper Scenes - Mark's Gospel (18)

orchidee

Tune: Leibster Jesu

('Dearest Jesu, we are here')

Mark 14 v.22-31

*******

Jesus, Supper instituted

Simple gifts of wine and of bread

Took bread, blessed it, and did give

It to disciples, they ate, live

Bread of life, His body broken

For us here be the sure token

And He took the cup of wine

It would symbolise His blood fine

New testament blood it is

Which is shed for many, true this

Though Jesus no more would drink wine

'Til He drinks in kingdom divine

They did sing a hymn, and then

Went to Mount of Olives, was when

Jesus said, you all shall be

Offended this night, 'tis writ, see

'I will smite he shepherd, and sheep

Shall be scattered, not with Him keep'

But when He has rose again

They shall see in Galilee then

Him, the risen Lord, though they

There said from Him they would not stray

But He knew they would not do so

Though they said with Him they would go

Would go even unto death

Share with Him in gasping last breath

And He knew that Peter would

Deny Him thrice, and that it should

Be before cockerel crow twice

It be too great  for them, the price

Thanks again UNCLE STEVE for a lovely HYMN extolling the virtues of GODS presence : AMEN. In my experience the MASS (Communion Service) is when we come closest to the everlasting importance of Christs atoning death on the Cross. I have attended Mass in very grand Cathedrals in Spain and in a very simple way at Evangelical Christian Camps with Brian : BUT the experience is the same : its not the PLACE but the PERSON (The Lord Jesus Christ) that is important : AMEN !

Thanks B&A. That'll be 'Communion' to me, and I suspect to you too, not Mass! Sounds too High-Church for me. But I go to some places where it says 'Mass' and have to bear with it in name only!

            • ANGELA & BRIAN

I was raised as a CATHOLIC but now (when in the UK) I attend the Evangelical Church with Brian and my Parants (Devout Catholics) are happy that I am still a devout Christian and that Brian is active (Elder) in his Church. They are happy for me to be married in the Evangelical Church because I am a Member. They and my Family in the UK will attend the Wedding : OK. Some of my Friends in NZ are Catholics so sometimes I go with them to the Catholic Church in Auckland OK. Brian sees many of the extra-scriptural teachings of the Catholic Church as Untrue : Transubtantiation : Infalibility of the Pope : Prayers to the Virgin Mary & Saints etc. Brian happy to attend Catholic Services with me and for our marriage to be Blessed in the Cathedral in Seville where we will spend our Honeymoon. We had a choice and I chose to be a Member of Brians Church : OK
Blessings & Love in the SPIRIT : ANGELA 🧡🧡🧡🧡
