COLOURFUL AUTUMN
AUTUMN : all over the World : brings
A technicolour pallet of .......
Shades of Autumn leaves : Red : Orange

QUARENTA is the Spanish for FORTY so a QUARENTA is a
40 syllable Poem in five lines of 8 syllables in Iambic
Tetrameter. BRIAN & I devised this form to allow 9 more
syllables than a TANKA (5 7 5 7 7 = 31) and to give the
Poem a more compact shape when written ! It is AUTUMN
in New Zealand which is why I have chosen that SEASON !

Autumn is my favourite season, the colours of nature are boundless.
Thanks UNCLE ANDY : Yes always amazing the range of colours : natrues way of stopping PHOTOSYNTHESIS and causing the leaves to fall. Trees go into HIBERNATION during the Winter when there is less SUN ! Pleased you enjoyed the Presentation ! I love Natalie Coles take on Autumn Leaves so so full of PATHOS !
Blessings & Love to YOU & JOYCE
Yours as always ANGELA 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
Ahh, them metres - a fine poem in 8.8.8.8.8. metre from you.
THANKS UNCLE STEVE : ANGELA HERE ITS 8pm NZ Time : So im just digesting my scrambled egg and a KIWI FRUIT sliced in TWO and served in a Twin Egg Cup (very Middle Class) ! For a POEM to be reciteablle : and for a HYMN to be singable it must have EITHER : RHYME or RHYTHM or preferably BOTH : OK. Prior to 1950 they did : In the BRAVE NEW WORLD anything goes and Congregational Singing ha shed Her Mantle of pre WW2 excellence. We do our best to maintain STANDARDS and the QUARENTA is a prime example. Thank you along with ANDY > MIKE > FAY etc for flying the Flag. There are many others: AMEN
Blessings & Peace for YOU & FIDO
Hugs : ANGELA 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
Thanks B&A. I'm not against modern hymns/choruses, even with 'irregular metres' - them metres! lol. But what is maddening is endless repetition, I mean about 20 times, not just 4 or 5 times; plus having the same choruses about 3 or 4 weeks in a row, and idle strumming from musicians. Erm, I cant imagine some places saying: Now the next hymn, No.407: 'I wanna scream it out from every mountain top!' Some respond, 'Erm, yes, well...'
Much as I love Autumn it is still the precursor to winter - so for me it's always spring with all its promise. That aside I also love the colours and this form as well - great work Angela.
With all its harshness, I see winter as seasons in life, a time to regenerate, a time of maturity, a time to reflect.
I am in the winter of my life, awaiting for the enevitable re- birth
Ah - Angela thank you for posting the gifts Autumn brings. The number you chose is haunting and Nat's daughter does it justice - - your lovely words describe Autumn with artistic eloquence making all its colours vibrate with beauty.
Autumn is my favourite season Loads of vibrant life and colour + of course kicking your way through the dead leaves. The different scenarios you describe concisely and brilliantly. Loved the poem.
Yes those are the attributes of Autumn, plus a feeling of calm and serenity, when one is soaking in the warmth of the afternoon sun, draped in a shawl, on a chilly day.
On this, from my poem "SEASONS"
Seasons
Seasons in life
Seasons in health
Seasons in nature
Seasons in wealth
Birth in spring
Growth in summer
Maturity in fall
Regeneration in winter
Maturity of autumn
Time for the harvest
The fruits of knowledge
Of all that is attained
To share the wisdom, of
Birth and growth
To the many generations in tow
To feel proud of living
Thnx for taking me there
