Disturbed?
What do you think?
In this National Organ Donation Awareness Week
I started worrying about actually being dead!
I mean physically
I have my Christian faith and hope of new life
Going on after my physical death
But I think - a bit ghoulish?
Unless one opts out next Spring
You'll be opted-in for organ donation
Conjures up scenes a bit
Of 'Aha!' (rubs hands in glee)
'Another one popped their clogs -goody!'
Yet I shall be dead!
I shan't feel a thing
And it can help others to live
Yet - scary?
A bit like being buried in pieces - as well as in peace?
And animal experiments too -
There must be other ways to research
Woof! yes, agrees Fido.
A controversial scheme?
What do you think?!

ready or not, I just put both ya names down as organ doner's... oh' and one of you for experimentation.... someone will be around later to tissue type..... Neville
Thanks N - the knacker's yard?!
I'm all for it - trouble is I don't have an organ - only a penny whistle.
Thanks M. Miss Berles got an organ? I mean,..... no, not that sort of organ. Made my self swoon now!
Very good write Orchi,.
I thought your Faith was strong, mine is, I know my body will die and they can do what they like with it but My Spirit will go on for eternity.
Thanks Gold. But- should we have the choice to opt IN, rather - as currently?
Orchi,
An interesting read!
Thank you for sharing!
I think about organ donation, cremation, being buried in a coffin...
I’m still undecided!!
I don’t like the idea of being opted-in unless I opt out!
~Laura~
Thanks Laura. It will be so in the UK from next Spring. The ethical thing is: 'Are we being selfish if we opt-out'? I don't think we are.
I do think about your posed question. I’m glad you think we’re not being selfish because I do tend to agree with your statement!
A very clever way of expressing such a controversial matter!
For me personally, I am a big believer in putting yourself in another's shoes and so, if my loved one needed an organ and there was none given with consent, implied or otherwise, I would be heart broken. And so, I am already on the list for there is someone out there wishing for life for their loved one. Life that only the dead can provide.
A really clever poem.
CLARA X
Thanks Clara. I am jokey in places in the poem and my comments. But I say 'well done' to those who have the choice (currently) to opt-in. It will be reversed. We shall need to choose to opt-out if we wish.
I don't believe in the 'Old Father Time 'figure, carrying a big scythe (you know the one?), but there's the disturbing element of 'You'll be opted in, unless you choose to opt-out'.
Now, Fido, is my (non-existent!) 18+ 'watch-dog'. He barks at anyone who does not mark their poems 18+, if they should be so marked! He's a bit of a pest. lol.
...I can picture myself on a busy street, peddling "organ for sale (donate) here, last chance...
Thanks Suresh.
