However 18% of People still borrow from Neighbours !

Garden Tools including Lawnmowers
Household Tools including Hoovers & Microwaves
Milk & Sugar ~ to make a CAKE !
Eggs to make an OMELETTE
Bread - Tea - Coffee cos we have VISITORS
Phone Charger & use of COMPUTER in situ
Bottle opener ~ tin opener ~ pans etc

Have You Borrowed or Loaned anything lately ?
Thanks for visiting ~ comments welcome ~ Love B & A ๐๐งก๐
My (BRIAN) Parents are quite friendly with their Neighbours and tell
me they often borrow & lend some of the listed items. My DAD
has a HEDGE TRIMMER which is often borrowed (with a thick pair
of gloves !) and MUM is always running out of ICING SUGAR and
EGGS etc. We live in a Consumer Society but not everyone can
afford a decent HEDGE TRIMMER ! Love A & B ๐งก ๐ ๐งก ๐ ๐งก

Wise words. It took me a while to learn not to lend things, initially records which i never saw again, or later money which never came back. I guess i must have been a 'soft touch'.
I agree that it appears families and neighbors were more established in years passed than we arae now which allowed then to be so much more trustworthy of one another. Nowadays families are spread all over the globe (some even as far as NZ) so quite a different world eh?
Some people can't afford a hedge nor the garden which goes with it let alone the trimmer. TBH my garden tools do not get lent out. I would only do that if the borrower lodged with me the cash needed to replace the item beforehand which of course they never would do.
Good afternoon DA thanks for your comprehensive comment. People are more transient these days so ther is not the neighbourhood bond that existed 100 years ago (1920s). Angela & I never lend (or borrow money). If soemone wants to borrow a CD ~ I can make a copy on my Mainframe (is that illegal ~ Ive only done it twice !) Most of my LPS I have now given away. I think lending money within Families is common and both our DADS have offered us an interest free loan ~ if we want to buy a House ! Yes I guess with Lawn Mowers etc they can always come back knackered ! Perhaps in retrospect Shakespeare was right ! B & L does indeed dull the edge of Husbandry ! YES for me (BRIAN) NZ is even too far away for Me to beg - borrow or steal a KISS from ANGELA ~ but all will be changed next Month !
Blessings to You & Yours

A fine write B&A. Oohh yes, I remember people borrowing in days of 1066. I thought that was YOU in the 1920's?! heehee.
Ken Dodd probably said he borrowed the money - I must not get myself started on that again!
He's laughing up his sleeve for likes of people including you good people, ya know, you two, who pay taxes!
Thanks UNCE STEVE ~ I may have some old fashioned ideas but I was born in 1983 not 1923 (Id be DEAD) or even 1933 ! Being born in Liverpool there was a phiosophy (Scouse Lore) in which one never *pinched* anything you just *borrowed* it was a sort of unspoken Communism ! I once had a *borrowed bike* for three weeks ~ the owner (I knew) was in Hospital and I gave it him back (with a new saddle bag) when he could ride again ! I have an Overhead Projector (worth ยฃ200) which I often lend out also a Hedge Trimmer (ยฃ150). Angela & I NEVER lend PEOPLE money not even Family ! But we will accept an interest free loan from the Dads if we buy a House !
Blessings & Joy to YOU & Delightful Dog

Yes borrowing and lending in days gone by seemed a neighbourly custom which in these times would mean a chat with people who although living nearby are hardly ever in contact - perhaps in small villages folk are still molded to family life and can trust their closest of neighbours but in cities it is understandable if this habit has almost died. Good points raised however in this verse Brian.
Thanks FAY ~ Pleased you enjoyed the Presentation. People are much more mobile these days ! Angela & I will start our Married Life (probably in my Flat in Essex ?) and relocate when (God Willing) we have our first BABY ! Also we may relocate to Spain or New Zealand or USA etc. Both our Professional Skills & Qualifications are transferable to any Developed Country ! ANGELA & I never lend MONEY ~ BUT we would accept a loan to buy a House from both our Dads and they are both ameanable. I have several Technical Items which I do lend out to Family - Friends & the Church ~ OK. Thanks for your comments !
Blessings & Peace & Joy

Sadly neighbourliness is a dissappearing virtue although it does still exist in smaller communities.
YES INDEED UNCLE MIKE ~ I (Brian) have never lived in a Village but there are some attractive Villages in Essex ! So perhaps when we have Kids Angela might live in a Village close enough for us to commute to work ! We feel if we joined the Local Church - Tennis Club & Hostelry etc we would soon settle inand be able to both LEND & BORROW the ubiquitous Sup of Cugar (Essex liquore) and the Middle Classes who move into Villages always want Spanish Pronunciation lessons for their Hols ! i Esta La Vida !
Blessings & Peace to You & Yours

Felt compelled to read.
Worth it!
Thanks!
Maybe I need something from this and I got it when I read it...but just not conscious or not aware of what it is.
Thanks for your enigmatic reply ! Brian & I always try (in all our MPS musings) to present a wholesome message. One that not only INFORMS but also UPLIFTS ! Sometimes our readers just let the message pass through them but retain the VIBE - the UPLIFT ! Brian & I are both NITRITIONISTS ! when we eat an apple we are conscious of the ACIDITY of the MALIC ACID and the roughage and the minerals & vitamins & the sugars etc in addition to the organoleptic quality ! Most normal people take the NUTRITIONAL VALUE for granted and are mainly concerned with the TASTE ! So it is with a posting on MPS. For Brian & I there are always three elements PICTURE ~ PRESENTATION (Video) ~ POEM and we collaborate to ensure an element of QUALITY. There is a METHOD and a MESSAGE. Others have told us they get a vibe from the Complete Package ! We do plan ahead of time e-mail a draft and collaborate to hone it ! We are both Scientists so to some extent we are perfectionists in both Form & Function. There are those who critisise the Spiritual Nature of some of our Poems but we accept that ! Because we know we have done our best and what we post is not just the porduct of two Minds - but also two Hearts & Souls. Beacause we are Lovers the collaboration is smoother than a collaboration with just a Fellow Poet - M or F ! What you got was the essence of the collaboration between ANGELA & BRIAN over 11,500 miles ! Its now 8:20am Saturday Morning here in NZ !
Blessings & Peace & Joy

It is often the that you never see things again. There are trustworthy people though and trust must be in your life.
ANGELA HERE (5:30pm Saturday !) Trust between Family - Friends - Colleagues & Neighbours is very important in all walks of life ! Perhaps another virtue that is being eroded in the 21st C ! I lent a Friend (who was going to the Lake District my high power Binoculars ! I didnt say *Treat them as if they were your OWN* I said *Treat them well because they*re MINE and were very EXPENSIVE !* I am a Twitcher ! Ive always had expensive items returned but its small things like Books - CDs & Maps etc - that eveporate !
Blessings & Peace to YOU & JOYCE

This is very true. We need to stop being so selfish. Of course we must always be wise in who we lend our stuff to. Still, if we have something, and we see others in need, then we should share. I like this piece.
