My father, recently widowed
Told me today that he has 'met' someone new.
He said to me he has known her for years
And their friendship had grown through the sharing of tears
Obviously i expressed concerns of worry
He said that he knew and there would be no hurry
He said he didn't know if this was long term
I breathed a sigh, full of compassion and love
I looked in his eyes and spoke with great care
“Dad" i said “at your age long term just isn’t there!”

Lol, great ending and I'm sure many will agree! We're all here for the moment!
Thanks for sharing
Thanks Dan. It gives you hope haha
No never too old. I have a friend who was widowed in her early eighties and has now found a new partner through an online agency. They are so suitable for each other and so happy - he has moved in with her whilst keeping his own property where his daughter now lives. That's the only problem - ensuring proper wills are in place to protect the families inheritances. Fine write.
Thanks Mike. Love never discriminates
Why yes, a relative, an 'aunt', married two months before her 80th birthday, for the first time!
Lovely. Bet the honeymoon was.... cautious!
well maybe he meant till the rest of his days
It was in the contect of the conversation at the time Ron. We did laugh
well,at least it made you laugh
In all our lives life must go on perhaps your Dad realises this and and has moved into a new life.
We must all move on in life in spite of any sorrows in our life.
Great last line - smiles all around.
Andy
