No Eulogy

FredPeyer

“Always loved,

Never forgotten,

Forever missed”

A memorial quote and

A great lie

“Out of sight,

Out of mind”

Would be more appropriate

I don’t need

Any Eulogy

Those who liked me

Know they did

Those who did not

Know it too

Don’t lie about me

After I am gone

Don't go running off anywhere soon Fred. We need ya here mate.

    • FredPeyer

      don't worry, d a, I don't intend to!

    • Clara

Oh, this sends quite a powerful message. Sometimes I think those sort of things are more for the comfort of those left behind than an actual reflection of the person who passed away. Well expressed nonetheless!

      • FredPeyer

Mahalo Clara! You are right, it is more for those left behind, kind of talking behind your back. And I am sure we can find something good to say about even the worst person if we dig long enough.

      • orchidee

You reminded me of what they will say at my eulogy, re: my singing: 'Goodbye, and good riddance; Now, silence is golden!' (heehee).

        • FredPeyer

Thanks Orchie. No, no, what they will be saying is: "Thank God, now he is singing with the Angels".

        • Saxon Crow

Couldnt agree me. Chop my carcass up and feed it to the crows. Let people grieve in their own way if they want ill have none of that nonsense. No way. Not over my dead body.

          • FredPeyer

Mahalo Saxon, like that last sentence in your comment!

          • Fay Slimm.

Powerful message here Fred and one which makes lots of sense - - when no longer around let people make what they may of our life but may they not feel the need to expound a lie.

            • FredPeyer

              Mahalo Fay! Exactly!!!

            • Goldfinch60

Strong write and so true, mind you saying that I have recently written and said a eulogy for my loving wife who passed recently.

              Andy

              • FredPeyer

Mahalo Andy. First of all, my sincerest sympathy. A eulogy that comes from the heart about a loved person is completely different. I was more talking about the thoughtless words sprouted by people just because they think they need to say something. Like "He was a loving father" when all he did was drink and beat up his kids, etc.

              • Michael Edwards

Me too - like this a lot.

                • FredPeyer

                  Mahalo Michael!

                • tundrol

Kinda cruel but witty, and wit is remembered long after the truth is forgotten. Keep up the good work, mon général!

                  • FredPeyer

Merci mon ami! The truth can sometimes be cruel and you are right, we like to remember the good times and forget the bad ones. C'est la vie!

                  • M.E.M.

That’s the truth. Brutally honest, I love it.

                    • FredPeyer

Thank you for reading, M.E.M. , I guess since we lie when they are alive, we just keep on lying after they pass.

                    • Doggerel Dave

Yeh - but not yet mate - where the hell are you?

                      • FredPeyer

I am still around, just busy as heck. Haven't written anything in a long time, but hope to be back into writing again in a few weeks.
                        Thanks so much for asking!!!!
