Natural Neighbours

Tune: Doncaster

('Put thou thy trust in God')

Luke 10 v.25-37

********

A good Samaritan

Did help his neighbour when

He saw him injured on the road

Along which he had trode

For a Jew did travel

And took his journey all

From Jerusalem made his way

To Jericho that day

But thieves did then attack

Him, He could not go back

Though priest passed by on other side

Levite did from him hide

But there in compassion

E'en help other nation

Samaritan his wounds did bind

And for him shelter find

He took him to an inn

Gave the keeper therein

Two pence* for his keep, and if more (*two denarii - two days wages)

He would pay keeper sure

So which one was neighbour

To man who was robbed sure?

Asked Jesus, a lawyer replied

Toe one who stood beside

Not only stood, but gave

His love, and helped to save

Showed mercy on him Christ replied

Go you and do likewise

In this life we should all be prepared to help one another no matter who they are.

Yes our aid to others makes us good Samaritans - - let us all work toward staying that way. Good points made Orchi.

          Sing along with me Orchi
          Denari ... Denari...
spendin it can drive ya barmy

nah! buy yerself a big cheese sarnie.

When i was a junior and religious education was a part of the school curriculum i used to think what a bad lot these people were to whom Jesus would impart his lessons. So much normal good intent i accepted as normal seemed to be missing from them. Looking around the world today, and not always far from home, I see i was wrong. Much of his wisdom, especially the one you feature today, could do with being adopted.

            A wonderful write.

We all should support one another now particularly with what is going on.

The perfect message during these times of hardship. Well done Orchie!

Thanks Fred. Though I wrote it a while ago, outside of the crisis. I suppose we can say 'Health workers etc - still doing now what they have ever done'. There lots of good surely, that when the crisis ends, will continue on, rather be 'new' good deeds.
