As I looked back in my life,
Into my cup of life,
I found things that I had done,
Found things that I had believed in
That were not right for me,
Found beliefs forced on me,
Forced on me by others.
Came the time when I drained that cup,
That cup of materialism and self-obsession,
And those beliefs that others had put in that cup,
Until there were only the dregs left.
Then I saw clearly my new life,
My new life that showed clarity,
Clarity and freedom into my future.

As Orchi would say - a fine write.
It's amazing, all that clutter we think life needs before we really mature. And we really go for it amassing quite some quantity. But then something happens which takes the wind from our sails and we begin to see 'through a glass darkly'. But once we see through that glass, we see more and the darkness disappears. We are seeing the light.
I glorify what i have seen in that light with my love of this life and faith in the afterlife, as i know you do.
Than k you d a.
Yes we are both of an age where the things that are meaningless in our lives have been dismissed and those that are left show us how are lives are now in the light.

Life holds only pain and strife
within the many webs it weaves
and in my fortune’s cup of life
all that I see are tea leaves
I hope those are tea leaves and not the dregs from some teabag Michael, those proper tea leaves are much more meaningful.
Andy
Glad you found your own light and way!
Thank you Romantic. I am old enough to have found that way.
