Goldfinch60

caring church minister.

Well he has done it again,

Our ‘caring’ church minister,

Has done it again!

The ‘phone went,

I knew it was him.

So I answered,

Asked him how he was.

Being the ‘caring’ church minister,

He asked me how I was,

So I said all was well.

We chatted about things,

About what we were doing,

And then came the crux,

The reason he ‘phoned me,

He had problems with his printer!

When first he arrived

I installed his computer,

And every so often get the call.

Something had gone wrong,

I always helped.

But when my loved one was unwell,

He still ‘phoned

Asking if she was alright,

But every time

He ‘phoned because he had a problem!

He never, ever ‘phoned

Just to see how we were!

And now in these shutdown times

He still hasn’t changed!

Our ‘caring’ church minister!

If only people would open their eyes to what is ACTUALLY going on in the church and with it's people rather than always regarding it/them as being something positive purely from their own blind faith.
But churchy type people are by and large blind and deaf when it comes to stepping outside their blind faith habit.

I wonder if your dear minister would fold up and implode if you actually pointed that out to him. Some have the appearance/demeanor of one who has never been criticised to his/her face.

I have told him, but it just seems to flow over him.

Oh dear, yes, you told us about this before in a similar poem.
I heard a tale, but can't say if it's true, on similar lines.

        Thanks Orchi.

Part of 'me me' culture that is rife although it has been nibbled away a tad in the current pandemic.

True Michael, but it does not seemed to have changed him.

ANGELA HERE ~ Good Evening Uncle Andy - Thanks for sharing Claire de Lune on the Theremin - An electronic Instrument controlled without physical contact invented by a Russian of the same name ! It has an ethereal sound and Claire de Lune is a composition well suited to the genre. The instrument is used in eerie film sound tracks. The nearest sound I can think of is the Celeste or the *oft castigated* Musical Saw which have a similar resonance ! Haunting & echoing !
Thanks for the Poem it reflects the 21st C attitude of never doing anything for nothing ! However that was not the example set by Jesus !

Blessings & Peace to YOU & YOURS

It may be that your minister is filled with the spirit of the times, you know, the computer generated spirit, where time is of the essence, panic, panic, no time to lose, must get it fixed, who can I call at this hour? Surely you've been there, computers and their hang-ups have the ability to turn the nicest people into selfish people, until finally, all is well again and the blessed thing is humming along nicely. He does you will note, start out by caring, if only as a way of getting what he wants. Forgive him, he's human like the rest of us and with your skills, I am sure you will eventually mend his ways. Good read and a good lesson. Joe
