Doggerel Dave

Notice of absence from Doggerel Dave
I will return early January.

Dogs are far too discriminating these days.

Pedigree Chum has a lot to answer for.

Dogs no longer eat student’s crappy essays –

They tear out the best bits of Granny instead…

The funeral was lovely.

Inspired by my teacher at an adult education establishment who informally spoke of another part time role (the lot of academics today is not a happy one) as tutor at a university where she marked essays. She noted a change in the excuses provided for non delivery of said essays on time... (‘Had to attend Grandmothers funeral’)

  • Comment from author about the poem: In an attempt to integrate myself into mainstream MPS several days ago I threw up a contribution relating to that perennial topic ‘Love’. Received some interest. However in a continuing quest for greater recognition I must maintain momentum and persist: Maybe my structure/technique needs a revaluation? Will music – short unrhymed verse prove a winner, dear fren....?

Glad you enjoyed the funeral, will you be seeing your Granny tomorrow. Any excuse to avoid an essay!
Your integration has been accepted by the management Dave so just keep writing.

Somebody stole my dad's car with my essay in it whilst i was in the library researching for my halo.

Thank all you four (but who's counting?) for your support. Its a pity I was asleep when all the Hurrahs and Bravos came through. Didn't wake me. I was in a deep antipodean slumber.

I imagine there is more to this than meets the eye ...

it made me think long and hard and chuckle intermittently whilst also choking on my mid morning croissant ...

Mercy bowkoo, Neville; how you discovered it after all this time must remain a mystery. Didn't half cheer me up - the thought that my work endures....

Love the wit behind every line in this tribute to doggies in windows who have such discriminating habits -- keep that ink flowing my friend.

      • Doggerel Dave

Hey Fay - you've happened upon my best work; please don't expect such quality ever again.
I shall wearily plod on, do my best - noone can ask of me any more than that.
(Reminds me that I have to get back to your dicky bird study; been putting it off - looks terrifying).

        • Doggerel Dave

Hello Nancy. Thanks for hauling this little effort out. You dusted off the cobwebs and gave it a fresh outing. (You do wander into some strange spots on MPS, don't you?)

          • Nancy Rdz LL

Yeah I do wander some at times, in the beginning I did lol

Did she do something to Fido? My dog took a piece out of me when I was cutting his nails and cut too short with a pair of wire cutters.

            • Doggerel Dave

Fido - best best head amputation methinks.
You - Off tothe pet shop and get the proper gear LOL
