I borrowed my wife’s lipstick
wrote them in the corner of the mirror
that was last January
the words kind of smudged
my 2020 resolutions
forgot about them in February
I stare at them
they wouldn’t have worked anyway
with the kind of year we had
but still too ashamed
to put up new ones
this time I write them on paper
burn them at the Buddhist temple
let the Gods take care of them

Love and perseverance is all that is needed
You are right TS, but sometimes I do wonder why we even make these resolutions knowing that most likely we will not abide by them.
If at first you don't succeed, at least give someone (me) an empathic chuckle....
Thanks Dave, I am glad I was able to make you smile!
My new years resolution....I write them in the snow and wait till its warmed up a bit to go see what i wrote.
Thanks d a, unfortunately we don't have any snow here. I could have thrown the paper into the ocean though to see what would happen.
Mine are written in my mind so they are soon forgotten.
Andy
Thanks Andy, great answer! Maybe I should have done that and five minutes later they would have been gone.
Good write Fred.
Thanks orchie, I guess you don't need New Year's resolutions, you are already perfect!
I make the resolution each year to improve me singing. I always fail, by about 2nd January! lol.
Nice one Fred - thanks for the smile.
Thanks for your kind comment, Michael!
these here, be a perfect go-to example of 'lived-in' words of wisdom,
a wonderfully unique take on an age-old problem
and yes, in most things: acceptance is key, I too agree
Thanks L.B., and I agree with you!
This poem encapsulates the feeling everyone who’s ever forgotten New Years Resolutions. I love it, and I love the ending!
Thanks so much M.E.M, I really appreciate your comment!
