1 - 4 - 3 ~ I Love You

Accidental Poet

There before me, a beautiful view

While above me flies the red, white and blue

A mile off the coast of Scituate and Cohasset so rare

The view from Strawberry Point captures my stare

And there she is, standing 114 feet in height

Amid sea and rocks, the monumental lady of Minot Light

The rocks, so treacherous and unforgiving

Minot Light shines to protect the living

But also a message to loved ones out to sea

Shining a light sequence of 1 - 4 - 3

The first lighthouse here fell victim to a raging storm

In 1851 two men perished, their families would mourn

The memories of Joseph Antoine and Joseph Wilson

Will live on in the lady’s loving beacon

For 9 years later, a new lighthouse would stand

From local quarries of granite, blocks laid by hand

Over many years, a lady withstands the crashing waves

Thanks be to her for all the lives she saves

The ocean seas command a powerful respect

Every sea captain knows his charts to check and recheck

And still today, Minot Light shines out to sea

A most endearing reminder of 1 - 4 - 3

    Lighthouse does its job
    Standing lonely at nights
I admire if they have a story to tell
    Maybe I could share
    Awesome clicks
    Well penned dear poet

Much obliged spilleronsheet. I believe all lighthouses have a story to tell. 😉

        Indeed
        Await a lighthouse
        Await a wave
        They all have stories within

      • dusk arising

Fine and respectful dedication to the lighthouse and the men who built her.

So many tales that lighthouse could tell us of ships and boats that had passed its saving light.

I've been inside some of my local lighthouses, but not this one. Access is a little tricky. Thanks Andy.
