I might want to stay
here by the river a while
where my downstream day
floats peacefully away
there's never much to say ..... (really)
on a downstream day
thoughts just have their own way
neath that haphazard sway
of those downstream trees
who tickle my knees
with their sunlight then shade
and warm cherryade
of tickle-tongue cheer
and inquisitive ducks - bathing quite near
seem to imply - in their own downstream way
perhaps they've a little game we three could play
but after a waddle
it's off they paddle
in their own rather downbeat casual way
on this relaxing, intoxicating, downstream sort of day
I really can recommend such a day for you too
when you haven't much stuff that you need to do
by the riverbank you can find your very own downstream day
and close your eyes,... relax,...... just drift away.

And I love this . Great poem , dusk 🙂
'there's never much to say ..... (really)'
'of those downstream trees'
'of tickle-tongue cheer'
'but after a waddle'
'I really can recommend such a day for you too
when you haven't much stuff that you need to do
by the riverbank you can find your very own downstream day
and close your eyes,... relax,...... just drift away.'

Nicely written! I love a good poem that can express themselves with so much passion. Nice job! 👍
Oh when we give ourselves premission to relax - isn't it wonderful. This sounds so guilt free! Off and away.
I can picture your downstream day dusk, sounds very peaceful
So original - don't know why but it put me in mind of a favourite track of mine - Leon Redbone's 'Relax'.
Yes, I need at step more back to that than my own crashing waves... but you know that!
Hope you are out and about or soon to be my friend.
Good words d a, we all need those days of relaxation to drift away within ourselves.
