Love's Dues

Fay Slimm.

Love's Dues.

Love, blind to weakness sees what it chooses
yet when gladness turns frigid

rights could be abused.

Coldness inhibits in frowns of refusal
to enhance tender passion

thus scorning love's dues.

We what we are bear discord as duty
but love writes no duets for

rarely shared music.

Indeed love can become a duel, fought at dawn and lasting all week till somebody sensible - the male of course - gives in when he realises her last two hubbies died of food poisoning.

    • Fay Slimm.

Ha ha - - you always come up with a corker my lovely - - am still giggling at that last line.

        'but when shadows cast images
        sight could be abused.

Doubt born of judgement frowns in refusal'..
(some truly profound insights in these lines,
I couldn't help but connect your words
        'admittedly, in a roundabout way'
to the theme of my post today)
        thanks for reposting, dear Fay
        another memorable poem
        (Happy Valentine's day, dear Poet
        'even if only
        in remembrance and dreams
if we have a valentine to call upon
        that to, is a blessing
we should be thankful for) 🌹🌹🌹

          A duet
          A duel
          Writing a song
          Or dwelling upon on swords
Love makes the most sane, insane above all
          So well penned dear Fay
