broken wing

dusk arising

i was just like a young bird
not long from my egg
when i heard you say
mother
the words which would become
the broken wing
i carried throughout my life
never to fly high

Idk if it's just me interpreting this ENTIRELY wrong. But is this about your child's passing? If so, sincere condolences to you. But maybe it's just me reading it wrong. I'll re-read it to make sure I grasp the meaning. 💖

No, nothing to do with losing a child. Some things which are said in our formative years can stay with us throughout our lives.

Ohhhh!!! Wow nicely done! My brain ventured off a little too much 😅

I think of all your poems I’ve read thus far, this one really resonates with me most. So true! Somethings never leave us.🕊

Thank you sir. There is so much truth in this small piece.

Well I've read it several times and still unsure how to interpret it - which actually gives it its appeal.

          • dusk arising

It relates to something which my mother said and should never be heard by a small boy in his formative years. Life can have a habit of placing before us situations where those words resound again and again.

A bag of emotions you penned dear poet
Well my interpretations seemed rising and falling like waves
            A young maiden
            In her youth self
Suddenly realised the burden of life
That nipped her ambitions as vast as sky
And those emotions carried over her entire life
That’s how it rang with my mind
            Another exemplary work of yours

              I ain't a young maiden LOL

                You aren’t
Then consider a young soldier in his teens
                On the borders
                Doing his duty
Or the young lad in his school days
Watching the sky chasing the sun
                While one day
Aloof and apart his duties which weighs upon him
                Umm
Did I make it sound very tragic ?

Erm ... this is just about something my mother said in front of me when i was about nine which has haunted me ever since. maybe it is what makes me a poet.
But we each create a picture from another's words. I'm all too ready to relate that i could have worded this piece better but it was an instant 'ogg the cuff' piece and posted here straight away.

                    Ohhh
                    That’s how it was

Yes there are words said by various people in our lives that stick forever. Very relatable.

A beautiful expression of past pain and damage. It is so easy to leave imprints in what has not dried that remain forever.

Holly crap that hit deep, on about the 7th read I think I remembered to breathe.

Thank you for sharing my friend

                    • dusk arising

Maybe it something many poets have in common.
