Sleeping's important
That's what they say
At least 8 hours
Or else you'll pay
Head will feel heavy
Eyes look so dim
You'll end up flabby
Instead of so trim
Sleep I must get
Need to have some
Noisy Bird's in transit
At 4 he will come
I'll count the sheep
Passing through the gate
Oh no still counting
It's 800 and 8!
Tossing this way
Look up at the ceiling
I'm going to give up
Go back to my reading
'Once upon a time
This very handsome prinz
Met a beautif..........'
Hello? Hello? zzzzzzzzzzz

NB: 'Prinz' is a German title that translates into English as 'prince'.
Insomnia is common especially as we age. I have tried many remedies without much success yet.

I don't have that problem, I had my eight and a half hours sleep last night and up at six this morning, my normal getting up time.
Andy
Wonderful - you’d feel really fresh then. I think I’m used to disturbed sleep from my many years of being on call and being woken up at odd hours. Thank you.
My CPAP machine has largely cured my insomnia. Prior to that i would read a book in bed until my eyes were shutting.
I was thinking about monitoring oxygen levels etc during sleeping hours to see what problems were present and whether I needed any aids. It’s good your insomnia has resolved. Thank you.
Four hours sleep, feels
like an Olympic gold medal, to me
and so
I think we've devolved
from
the 'age of anxiety'
to
the 'age of insomniacs'..
mass zombie movies, as mirror
to zombie states, we traverse
our lives...
lol
such a relatable read!
thanks for sharing, dear poet
Thank you. It’s true. I know so many more people now who have insomnia, young and old.
Loved your poem. Such an important topic and so common. Well written. Yes reading puts me to sleep too.
Thank you for your comments.
Insomnia written so well! The last stanza was killer 😅! Very witty AND relatable!
Thank you Rocky.
You need the new Paul Bell sleep remedy, guaranteed to get you sleeping, once you pay the paltry sum of 1000 dollars for 31 tablets, 29 for a leap year.
British pounds? Or USD? I’ll Never sleep! I’d have to rob a bank! (Almost 6 Malaysian Ringgit to 1 British pound and more than 4MR to 1 USD now).
You've sent me to sleep. lol
Do tell me if you get remedy
I am in same boat as yours
Sleep is really a luxury
To those insomniac nights
With baggy eyes
Dreams looks like takes a fleet
And sleep abandons with every passing night
I truly got your struggles
Our poet colleagues have given several suggestions above! I’ll surely let you know once I discover the secret. Thank you.
Unfortunately tried many of them but no success yet
Can definitely relate to this even before my 2 year old and the others, sleep is more just passing out!
Lovely flow thank you
Thank you. Sleep whenever your 2 year old sleeps!
Topic worthy of note, Rozina.
Threats from my public radio that anything less than 8 hours.... I'm doomed... 6 hours and a hopeful afternoon nap has to do for me - then suddenly 8 and a half hours and I'm disoriented for the rest of the day...
Fun read and great to know I'm not alone.
Thank you. You’re definitely not suffering alone. We’re supposed to get a ‘power nap’ of about 20 minutes in the afternoon. I feel weak when I wake up from that power nap!
I don't know about power and the nap, however the weakness you complain of doesn't work like that for me. When I awake, I give myself an extra 10 - 15 mins as I continue to lay there and luxuriate in the most relaxed I could possibly feel - then get up. And I am refreshed.
I love this Roz but envy anyone who manages that proverbial eight hours .. I'm lucky to get four or five and they are rarely unbroken ........ the following zzzzz's by the way are horizontal & very tired NN's 🙂
Thank you. Same boat. What a great idea - I never thought of turning the z’s onto their side - I could have taken a picture with my phone and rotate the letters.
A jovially penned poem here Rozina, but about a very important thing.
Though there are horrors to fight, and too many things to think about, sleep recharges the batteries, so I really endeavour to listen to my body.
Bravo, and I hope that all is well!
Thank you.
