Tune: St Asaph
('Through the night of doubt and sorrow')
Psalm 94 v.1-15 parts
********
O Lord God, unto whom vengeance
Belongs, show yourself, so sense
We your presence, shine forth brightly
Rise up, judge of the earth, we
Then shall see you render reward
To the proud who take up sword
You shall repay with punishment
The wicked who not repent
Lord, how long, how long shall it be
That the wicked triumph? We
Ask how long shall they, insolent
Speak hard things, impenitent
How log workers of wicked deeds
Boast themselves, and none you heed?
They break in pieces the people
Bring misery, afflict all
They slay widows, orphans, needy
Murdering inhumanly
Yet they say, the Lord shall not see
We shall carry on, so be
The Lord God, He does not regard
His creation, though we marred
It, he shall pay no attention
He in heaven, cares for no one
Understand you brutish, senseless
And you fools*, I you address (* wickedly blind)
When will you be wise, and listen?
It shall be your souls health then
He that made the ear, He does hear
He that made the eye, it clear
That He does see, with enemies
Shall deal,He knows, He all sees
The Lord knows thoughts of the wicked
Are vain, they deceived, misled
He will not forsake us, not leave
Us to always sorrow, grieve
O'er the wicked's cruel oppression
Judgement unto each nation
Shall come in His righteousness, know
Good-hearted ones Him follow

No wonder you and KP have had a bit of a tempestuous relationship, orchi.
Mind you, at the start, your Lord sounded heavy big time, vengeance and all, but by the end of the first stanza I realised it would all be OK - I can be a bad B. now then repent at the end and everything will be hunky dory..
Thanks D.
For what precisely, orchi? I need reassurance that your marriage isn't on the rocks and that I'm on the right track here...
Nope, me marriage to KP was on the rocks from Day 1. lol.
A fine poem indeed. I enjoy the way you word your poems, you have great diction.
Thanks Rocky. Some of it is through following an older Bible version, I believe (mostly King James Version). Some language of modern versions becomes trashy, I think, but not all of it.
The Lord is coming soon, and will take us away from all this wickedness and pain,Lord come quickly
Thanks Blue.
Does VENGEANCE VERITIES have a sister?
Thanks M. lol. Yes, sisters Veronica and Victoria. Only cos they all start with V.
Good one Orchi.
Thanks Gold.
