Escape to the Dark.

Goldfinch60

Why are you only there in the light?

Do I have to stay in the dark to escape

Your menacing presence?

Or are you a menace?

So silently you travel with me,

But darkness kills you.

You don’t seem to harm me,

Or want to hurt me in any way.

As the light intensifies you become darker,

But as soon as the light is gone

You disappear as if a shadow.

Reminds of one of my dhildren who ased when we put off the light: 'Who put the dark light on?'

But do you see shadows in daylight beneath an overcast sky. Shadows fear dissipated light and hide in cupboards and beneath cars.

        • Goldfinch60

It depends on how overcast your sky is d a.

Good answer from a man walking in sunshine LOL. Stay out of the shadows and enjoy those rays.

            light, is a concept
            that's so complex, like
            which came first
            shadow or light
            if no light
            would we know
            darkness exists
            if no darkness
            would we need light,
            why do we fear darkness
but spend six to eight hours
            everyday
            in self-induced, complete darkness
            and cherish
            the dreams, it gifts...
            (thanks Andy
            an intriguing read)

Wow quite the observation. Shadows are so strange, it’s like a replica of us just silently watching. Wonderful job!

                  Most kind Rocky, thank you.

I think think that shadows are our inner selves trying to be brought forth into the light

                    • Goldfinch60

Very likely Melissa, that light is always within us.
