IT’S HARD DOING NOTHING AT ALL

Michael Edwards

It’s hard doing nothing at all

even though passion is undiminished.

How do you know if you’ve got it right

and how do you know when you are finished?

I like your words based on flowers .. I imagine it is difficult feeling such feelings within but just doing ‘ nothing ‘

I is already finished boss, that's why i'm doing nothing at all.

      • dusk arising

        i tried all last week
        sweeping up on the street
that dag blamed dog poo sure is somethin

a little stinky bit here and stinky over there
god damn stinks nearly every damn where
        dawgs think it so neat
        to poop-out in the street

That passion will keep you going forever in life Michael no matter what you are passionate about.

        Good write and pic M.
Does Miss Berles allocate the sylla-berles, so we know when we've finished? Or at least, we know how many berles are given to us for each poem.

      • orchidee

I was bit miffed. A Bishop said 'Ohh, do nothing at all sometimes'.
It's OK for him, in a pic of him swanning around on a sledge in the snow with his children.
Well, they only works Sundays anyway - don't they?!

        • Michael Edwards

And they use words like 'ungodly' without explaining why. Easy soundbites with or without the berles.

          • orchidee

Is that 3 berles unexplained? un-god-ly. Miss Berles says not to waste one berle even!
Well, maybe we can spare some, in free verse - waffling on?!

Doing nothing is an art, and usually requires a clipboard. A clipboard signifies importance, and people keep out your way, I've noticed.

I've been practicing it for years and still haven't mastered it. Mine was a large brief case full of pink ribbon and bundles.

my ma used to say 'its harder where there's none' .... I still don't know what the hell it means tho' .............. I love those iris, or whatever they are Michael ...

              • Michael Edwards

Sure is iris - Only two - should be an odd number to comply compositional rules invented the pompous art officionados.

Best poem I’ve read in a very long time

                • Michael Edwards

You're too kind - but a big thank you.

I don't know the answer but I know your poem is Amazing. If I sit down doing nothing at all but daydreaming about going on holiday, is that counted as doing nothing at all? The mind is so busy planning an itinerary!

                  • Michael Edwards

That sounds like being busy to me - even more difficult to unthink.

I swear your artworks are so beautiful and inspiring. You've truly got a talent. And the poem just tying it all together... wonderful job!

                  • DestinysPerspectives

I really love this poem! It's honest and not a topic I have come across in poetry very often.
