There I was singing away
Singing the songs from my youth
I knew all the words,
I always remember them
And sang them with joy.
As I walked into the kitchen
I stood there wondering,
Wondering why,
Why I had come into the kitchen.
The memory had failed again.

I perform this same action at least 4 times a day!
I am not alone then.LOL

I laughed out loud at your last two lines. I'm tempted to say 'but i can't remember why'. Oh so many times I've been there 'why have i come upstairs?' only to recall ten minutes later when you're back in the kitchen.
No problem recalling every word of a beatles song though, just as you suggest.
It's good to laugh at ourselves even at our frustrations of ageing. It's one of the graces of surviving.
Laughter is so important in our lives and to be able to laugh at ourselves even more so. Thanks for the comment d a, much apreciated.

A comedy film has two guys joining the Foreign Legion. But they say they forgot what they came there to forget!
Abbott and Costello.

Maybe - or Laurel and Hardy. Yes, strange how we can remember 1066, and dinosaurs also.
I think I thought I had been here before .. but then I think I remembered it was just a premonition ... maybe, perhaps ..
a good wholesome chuckleworthy bit of fun & fact of life my little golden wonder .................. Neville
Thank you eerrr …oh Neville.

I know what you mean my friend - it seems universal in this too busy world - - and attacks whatever age - - love the number you chose today.
Thank you Fay.
Yes I just come across that number on YouTube and thought how good it was.

Yesterdsay for some inexplicable reason I asked Alexa to play Alan Price. I 've not heard any of his songs for maybe 40 years if not more and, like you, I found I knew - well almost - all the words. Aint the brain box a strange computer.
So true, a couple of years ago I did the same to my Alexa for Buddy Holly and I too knew nearly all the words.
The mind is a very strange thing.

With age comes some degree of memory loss. So much stored within our brain. I'm already on the same page as you... lol!
Thank you for your comment DV, much appreciated.

lol
so true, I just stand still
when it happens to me
regularly
wait for a few minutes
give me old cobwebs a chance
to ruffle something up
then give up, and move on
to whatever I need to do next..
I probably look like
a malfunctioning robot
at least 2 or 3 times, every day..
(no wonder the Aliens aren't bothering with me
'leave that one, it's obviously broken')
lol
When something does not come to mind immediately it generally come to me at 3 o'clock in the morning!

now That, obscene
fact of Life, needs
a whole other Poem
for itself! A very
colourfully Worded
write, it has to be
as well...!
There's nothing jovial
or whimsical, about
that!
Nothing!
lol
YESSS!! I literally love this. I feel this has happened to every single person on the Earth. That moment of just walking into a room and saying, "wait what am I even doing here?" Hehe thank you for this!
So kind Rocky, thank you.
Andy
No problem...I'm in my 40's and have that problem at least once a day! LOL Great write!

Haha. Been there. I think?
Don't think - it's dangerous.
Andy
I absolutely hate when that happens,, I agree with Nicholas completely
It can be dreadful sometime but looking back it is always amusing.
Andy
That it always is Andy
I do this all the time! And other forgetful things too. I tell myself it's because I'm not focused and thinking about so many other things and NOT because I'm growing old!
Could be true Rozina but possibly not. LOL
