Tune: St Michael
('The Lord is risen indeed')
************
Christ, He the living bread
By Him we still are fed
We partake spiritually
In bread and wine, so be
For body, spirit, soul
His food does make us whole
Manna of old days provided
Daily, God His flock led
But now in days, our time
Of life's pages and rhymes
To eat of Christ, feed on Him in
Our hearts, fresh praise begin
'Tis life and health and peace
Supply shall never cease
Uphold us, empower us still
For so is your good will

Does bread have legs? Must ask you know who. Nice one O.
Thanks M. I got no dough - KP spends it all on botox. lol.
Nice one.. ✨🧡
Thanks Chris.
I always find this part of Catholicism rather eery. It's cannibalistic in ritual. Better to just practice emmulating Jesus life than eating him! That's aside. Nice one Orchi
Thanks SC. It's only, ever - on the Protestant side (e.g. me) - symbolism, instituted by Jesus Himself at The Last Supper. I often mention that's it symbolic in my poems.
Yet I agree with you that Roman Catholics see the bread as the 'Real Presence' of Christ - speaks of cannibalism. Ugh! Transubstantiation, cos I likes long words (lol) but don't like what it means.
Yes! The living bread! Wonderfully said!
Thanks Rocky.
Beautiful, the spiritual nourishment that sustains.
