Persistence and Brainwashing (an antidote to the preacher poets)

dusk arising

I asked a christian preacher poet
right here on mypoeticside
did they accept that their
omnipotent god
was responsible for the
earthquakes and tsunamis
which killed so many people.
He replied that those events were due
to mankind not maintaining
things on Earth properly!

I went on to enquire whether
he accepted that the same god
was responsible for the meteor which
destroyed the dinosaurs or
was that mankind's fault too?
No response was forthcoming.
Facts like fossils of sea creatures from
millions of years before mankind existed
being found up mountains kind of prove
that movement of tectonic plates
which cause earthquakes really do have
absolutely nothing to do with mankind.
Again no reply was forthcoming
but good brainwashing wins the day
if you are of that kind of mind.
I think i was blocked from making
any further contact at this point.

I would have liked to ask
how can christians explain why
there is no mention of Adam's first wife
called Lillith in Genesis... no answer?
And why does Genesis hold two contradictory
statements about where woman came from
was it from Adam's rib or from the earth?
Both are there in Genesis.
Of course it is accepted by the
intelligent christian scholars that the text
was manipulated by the 'church'
to suit it's own ends who went on
to turn Lillith into a demon because
she demanded equality with Adam
refusing to be his servant.
How terrible, wanting equality.
Which of course seems to be the traditional
male view in certain parts of the world
and supported to this day by the word of the Bible.
Christian sexism among the brainwashed
who can't even see it's there?

Many more dual standards exist and are
conveniently overlooked by the brainwashed
who become upset when these questions are raised.

the road less travelled is a road you work out for yourself

not a road some preacher brainwashes you into believing.

This is rather eye opening, I was not aware of "lillith". Either way, whether God is responsible for tsunamis or not, I still believe in a loving God, no matter the religion. And I really respect you as a writer. I hope we can agree to disagree. 😉

Don't misunderstand me please nor read into my words words which are not there. I strongly believe in the existence of god but not the version created by the christian churches (i.e. created by man). I am a very spiritual person but refuse to be hoodwinked by a tradition which indeed had me brainwashed for many years until i was forced to question.

Many who question also reject the whole idea of god, but i don't. I peered deeper into the spiritual world for truths and untruths. Would god deny us that inquisitive mind?

Mostly you will find references to Lillith as a demon if you google it but keep reading and you'll get to the origins of her nad why she became demonised.

I apologize, Dusk. I didn't mean to offend. But thank you for your write today! Have a good one!

Hello dusk .. I think there might be a god or a higher ‘ being ‘ .. I certainly believe in angels . Although to be honest I’ve never thought of myself as someone who believes in god . But yes as far as god is concerned .. I cannot believe that a god would be to blame for so many things going wrong in this world .. I even think that would be unfair to say it’s to do with a god . I’m sorry that you had a disagreement with someone on here ..

      • Caring dove

I think it’s ok to share your opinion about something but not to try and push it onto others .. which I guess is something that some people decide to do .

        • dusk arising

I'm big on angels, I have the company of an angel. Yes I believe in god, it just isn't the god that these preacher poets have become brainwashed into accepting.

Yes I do see people pushing their opinions onto others (preaching) which they do from a 'holier than thou' stance. Whereas my post today merely presents questions which those same people can't address properly.

You see, one thing I like about you Dusk, is that you're audacious. If you go to my bio (that's been there since I created this MPS account) you'll see that the one word I describe myself as is "audacious." Without people like you being brave enough to deviate from poetry that's "accepted," we'll never find truth. So before going any further I just want to praise you for your boldness. Now back to the point, I, too, consider myself as a "spiritual" person. I feel that there's something beyond us that humankind just can't explain. However, I also don't consider myself apart of any religion as I feel each one is founded on unequal principles. Like you mention, "Christian sexism." Gender inequality between Christians is very much true. I have literally seen this firsthand being that my father and my stepmother are both Christians, and you should really see the way they treat each other sometimes. It's like his word is the only one that matters, and if there's a disagreement then it'll ultimately be in favor of my father being that he's the man in the relationship and that the Bible literally says "I do not permit a woman to teach or have authority over a man." That Lillith you mention I was unaware of, however, when searching her up it showed that she was risen from "Judaic mythology" and I never fully saw an explicit connection between her and the Bible. But assuming it's true, I question why the Bible never mentions her? Getting down to that ultimate underlying message of this post, "why do bad things happen to good people?" All I can say from personal experience and VARIOUS church sermons is that bad things occur because God wants to teach people a lesson and because "his knowledge of future outcome are superior to ours," so although a certain situation looks negative superficially, it's all tied to a greater plan that'll overall be positive. Remember, I'm only going by what I heard, and now what I believe. On the "brainwashing" theme, it truly does seem pretty cult-like. I can't argue against that, and to see how desperate some Christians get to convert others is truly frightening. The main reason I don't fully believe in Christianity is because of it's prominent DISLIKE against homosexuals. In the Bible it literally states, "Homosexuality is an abomination in God’s sight." So to see that clear and stark contrast between a "good and all-loving all-embracing God" that the Bible and Christians make him up to be, so sharply disapprove of people just because they love their same fking sex is so contradicting. Anyways, just want to say thank you for the insights and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

          • dusk arising

I've nothing to correct in anything that you have written here. I too cannot understand the attitude towards same sex love. If the christian god is the god of love where is the problem?

THe bible also promotes slavery - i bet you didn't know that. It instructs how to treat your slaves. (Exodus 21 of the old testament of the Bible for example, gives clear instructions on how to treat a
slave. Both Deuteronomy 20:10-14 and Leviticus 25:44-46 also give clear instructions on who
should be slaves, how and where to buy slaves, etc.)

Really in 2022, with educated church seniors acknowledging everything i have written here today, should we still be allowing the churches to preach their outdated stuff as they do.

Believe me, there are many many more issues than i have shown here today.

            • Rocky Lagou

Wow, I was unaware of the slavery promotion in the Bible. Quite astounding some of the things people preach without full acknowledgement of what they're actually supporting.

Cor blimey .. & yes, I am very much aware of where that phrase stems from .. however, before I digress too much .. as one that follows a Buddhist path, I place no man above man .. and that goes for gods too .. All in all I found your post today very interesting and informative .. Lillith who I had never previously heard of sounds like one hell of a gall ........... Neville

              • dusk arising

My inquisitive mind has found all sorts of stuff about the bible especially about how it was altered and what has been removed, what has been mistranslated etc. Yet some of the christians i have conversed with believe every word of the bits they choose to believe and cannot face up to the bits i ask them about. They simply cannot accept the idea that the bible was collated by a few men who slanted the whole thing so their way and their way only would be portrayed.... but there are several chinks in the way they did it.
Anyway, thanks for reading and leaving your valid and much appreciated comments sir.

I myself have occasionally wondered how, after Cain, the son of Adam and Eve, slew his only brother Able, and then managed to take unto himself a wife, from the land of Nod .. N

                    Thought provoking poetry
But yes I truly believe one should always be rational in their thoughts and not be brainwashed
                    And these lines truly hold
“ the road less travelled is a road you work out for yourself

not a road some preacher brainwashes you into believing”

                    • dusk arising

Thanks spiller. I'm sure i saw a christian writer on here write that the road less travelled was the christian way. Just shows how twisted some things can get.

You and I speak from the same sheet d a. I too am a Spiritual Believer in my own god, this organised religion is a complete farce and one which I gave up completely.
                      Good true words d a.
May your god go with you.

Thank you Andy. As Quasimodo said "I had a hunch you might say something like that".

It seems as if your opponents have put up white flags. It’s unfortunate to see the battle of beliefs fall into a lull for now. It’s always been very entertaining!
