He sat there and listened,
Listened to the songs,
The songs he had written,
Written with his brother.
It was so wonderful to hear her,
Hear her sing their songs.
Ella sang them so very well
And he was astounded.
He turned to me and said,
Said these words.
“I never knew that our songs were so good,
Never knew they were so good
Until Ella sang them.”

that must have been such an amazing eye-opener .. mind you, 'the queen of jazz' was so darned good wasn't she .......... Neville
It was Neville. I believe Ella could sin the telephone directory and still be wonderful.

Good write Gold.
Glad it's Ella singing them, and not me! I would ruin them! lol. Though it would not change the songs worth in themselves.
I'm gonna start a project - sing that telephone directory - arrgghhh! Why do I want to torture everyone?
Thanks Orchi.
I wish I'd have been around to see this generation of jazz singers live.
The only one i have seen live was Sarah Vaughn but saying that we saw a wonderful jazz singer a few weeks ago called Marvin Muoneke and he was terrific and only 26 years old.

Thanks for the link Andy. I'll take a look.
Ah -- one of my most favourite female singers - - Ella can move my heart with anything she wraps her romantic voice around - thanks for sharing Gershwin' s opinion too dear Andy.
She certainly can move our hearts Fay, thank you.

Nicely done, I know this is going to sound weird but I can only say what I feel. As I was reading it was very relaxing to me. I thought it was nicely written.
Not weird at all Tammy, we all have different feelings with music and words and relaxation is so wonderful to have.
