To walk by moonlight and cast a shadow
To walk by moonlight with a sprinkling of stars
The silence is deafening
The stillness profound
A morning so sublime
It takes my breath away
I move within its aura
And I know that it is transient
For as the sun rises higher in the sky
It will melt away the dreamscape
And I will be brought back to reality
For this brief encounter
I give abundant thanks
That I am in this place at this time
That I may bear witness to something
So prodigious

Lovely writing , Bella 🙂
Thank you my friend!
How liberating this read when drawn into the scene of stillness when dawn is breaking - -- your words bring the feeling of thanks to be alive in that place and time my dear Bella - a truly inspiring read.
Thank you dear Fay, you seem to see inside my heart. My morning ritual always sets the tone for the day. I feel we share the same love of beautiful spaces that sooth the soul. Your comments are always greatly appreciated.
I'm a late to bed, late to rise kind of person, Bella. Don't think I've ever experienced dawn, which after my read here, feels something of a shame. But is it possible to teach an old dog new........?
Habits? We all have our own internal clock, mine has always gone off at 5AM without fail. I've tried walking at some other times, but it's just not the same. Early morning often gives me treasures that would not be there later. Not being a late night person I can't speak to what I may, sadly, be missing there. Thank you so much for reading and commenting.
Oh, it is quite wonderful having a walking companion! Our thoughts usually accompany us but the shadows that we create also play along in this sublime dreamscape.
Thank you dear bard for your reflection on shadows, how very true. It is always a dream world for me. I rarely see a car or another walker, so the feeling of being the only person on the face of the earth really gives me pause to think about a good many things, which I may or may not discuss with my shadow. She's a good listener, but those long pauses do get tedious at times. Your comments always appreciated!
Beautiful words Bella. I too enjoy dawn walks, that can be astounding.
Andy
Thank you dear Andy, fellow dawn walker! I know that you can truly relate to the experience, and it is so nice to share it with a kindred spirit. There is something almost surreal about that time of the day, and I never want to waste a minute of it. Walk on dear friend!
Good write Bella.
I fancied a moonlight walk, but it was all cloudy and I fell down a hole! (I made that up. lol).
Could it only happen to me?!
I sincerely hope there wasn't a rabbit waiting at the bottom of that hole. Thank you my friend, your comments always brighten my day!
The latest in a series of unfortunate adventures for me?! lol. It's all not true, ya know!
I know, but it's fun to play don't you think?
Yes. lol.
Beautiful!
once I was privileged to witness the splendour of a cool-blue full moon
and the rise of a flaming-orange dawn
simultaneously,
a breath-taking scene I shall never forget
thank you, dear Poet
What you have described sounds like a once-in-a-lifetime event, how very fortunate my friend. The best mornings are those when it's still dark enough to see constellations, and I can say good morning to them as well. It makes me truly appreciate the wonders of the Universe, and how we lose focus in the turmoil of our lives. Thank you for your always insightful, and intuitive comments!
Bella this revives many feelings of peace and serenity. Such moments must be enjoyed in their transitory form. This seems true for life in general and if we accept the peace that is each moment, even in the most hectic, we can enjoy that calm even in the center of the storm. A beautiful piece Bella.
My dear friend, you express this so beautifully. While these moments are fleeting, they can fill us with such joy. We hold onto hope, and love and all the good things that remind us of what it is to be alive.
This is sublime Bella, I mean I felt every word.
I adore your paradoxes, "The silence is deafening."
Like that is so paplable, like the ringing you sometimes hear when the space around you is so silent.
I adore the complete admiration of the environment around you, it's such a surreal transcendence.
"I move within its aura"
My sweet friend, you are more than kind, and I appreciate your every word. My morning walks are at my core, where I feel I do become one with the universe. Just hope my feet hold up for years to come. Thank you for the fav.
it is 05.38 as I hit these keys to type my response .. by coincidence, I have been up since 04.00 and avidly skywatching .. the experts foretold of a magnificent meteor shower .. I saw a handful in the clear, still light pollution free sky above where I live .. but .. and it is a BIG BUT .. as amazing a sight as it was, I quite possibly would have enjoyed it just as much without the lightshow .. and I truly appreciate and can understand everything you have referenced here and share your joy at the first showing of a brand-new day ..... Neville
Dear Neville, the night sky is truly a wonder, and so good to share the experience with one who appreciates it's majesty. We have witnessed meteor showers in the different seasons and it is a rare treat. But as you say it is just as beautiful when the light show is ever present. About 5 years ago my husband and I traveled to Utah to one of our National Parks designated as night sky viewing. We got up at midnight and drove to the middle of no where, parked and waited for our eyes to adjust to the dark. What we saw was something I have seen only in a star show at our planetarium. We just sat and stared, knowing we may never be in a place to see it again. Thank you for sharing your experience, and your kindest comment.
