As I think back many years
When you were here with me
I ponder your thoughts
Was it me in your dreams you’d see?
If I asked you out
Dare I to fantasize your answer
Would my smile match that of yours?
Making me a heart dancer
In my wildest dreams
Where I could make you laugh
If I could embrace your heart
Might it show up in a photograph?
The days, they are bright
The nights are long
If you listen carefully
You’ll hear my heart’s song
For you are my universe
My heart’s very core
Were you to love me
Loneliness would leave my door

So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I send it.
Poetry and song, a good double act.
Very nice, well penned Sir Poet. π
I love this poem. The intro is also a heart-wrenching introduction, βwhen you were here with me.β Love leaves a lasting impression. Thanks for this, stay safe.
Thank you Rocky, yes the video of Bobby Darin in this song had me thinking of Sharon so I wrote the poem and included his video.
A fine write AP.
You may call me Sharon. lol.
I think I'd rather call Sharon. π€
The power of music to stir memories is something remarkable. It stirred in you a wonderful poem, fortunate for us, that we may read and enjoy!
Thank you Bella. Yes, music can be a huge influencer. Without realizing it, when I wrote it I somehow had the melody of Bobby Darin's song still in my head. So when I proof read my poem I feel the melody still there. I find that happens a lot with songs. The song will sort of lift me up and carry me through the writing process.
When the magic of music is in you, anything is possible.
Very much agreed. ππ
this is one helluva love poem AP .. and I know for an absolute fact that while Bobby Darin may have served to motivate .. there is another who served as the inspiration for it ..
Neville
Oh yes, she's been the inspiration for all but ten years of my life. And I'm grateful for it. Thanks N. π
That everlasting question AP - What if I had asked her out?
Andy
Well, at 14 years old in the 8th grade, I'm sure her parents would have something to say about that. π€
