Work Ethic

Accidental Poet

I grew up

Without instructions

Over many years I had to learn

The cost of deductions

Having a good work ethic

Takes a long time to understand

But you’re there when you can honestly say

I’m proud of where I stand

The value of money connected

To the value of hard work

They go hand in hand

Bleed the sweat before popping the cork

A good work ethic

Takes many years to learn

To share the work load equally

No matter the pain that burns

To earn your keep

On the work force

Prove yourself worthy

Or provoke employer’s divorce

Usually learned from the elders

As passed down through experience

Pay attention long enough

Understanding a good working sense

When all work together

There is no seam

Depending on each other

There is no I in team

No one man a hero

Each man a working brother

The handshake shows

Respecting each other

Looking back

On a job well done

When the boss smiles

So does everyone

    Good write AP.
What ethical justification can I find for my mistreatment of KP - slagging her off daily?! lol.

    • Accidental Poet

You do what you have to do Orchi. 🤔

I do admire those who have very good teachers but I also believe it is somewhat within each of us to be proud and dedicated and indeed honest with what we do in the work place. I'm doing an extremely understated job at the moment and I absolutely love every minute. Ah A.P loving this my dear friend. 🤗

I thank you Teddy for being who you are. Work ethic is a choice we all make. 😉👍

Heck, I avoided a Christmas kiss under the mistletoe from manageress. I would never have recovered from it - too ghastly! lol.

        • Accidental Poet

And KP would have been jealous. 😘

Dishonest wealth will dwindle, but what is earned through hard work will be multiplied.

Thank you for reading and commenting 2781, 😊👍

A feeling mostly lost now days. In a society that is me oriented where there is no loyalty to company, team, or nation. Until the time that we can return to this dedication to the population crime will raise as well as degredation.

I have to agree with you soren, work ethic if a lost concept where most want something for nothing. Thanks Soren. 😊

Hats off for being so prolific versifying, AP. Is that your work ethic well and truly established?

Depends also on context - on the task involved. Over a long life there have been many tasks/jobs/activities I feel I've applied myself to with dedication, others I've shirked...

That's my work ethic that took me many years to refine from my younger life Dave. Hindsight a great teacher. 😉 Thanks for reading.

So very true AP, a good work ethic is so important in life, it seemed to work for me.
