Didn’t it used to be
That politicians would talk
About issues that face our world
A straight path they would walk
They’d talk about what they’ll do
To make the world a better place
Bring unity to its peoples
Compassion on a caring face
For nations to co-exist
Find the good in each other
That we can all work together
Like sisters and brothers
For politicians to be role models
Find solutions for unrest
Lead us into the future
With our children’s best interests
Didn’t it used to be
That politicians running for election
Would be on their best behavior
Knowing they’re under close inspection
These days they just want to fight
How they yell and cuss
Hang out each other’s dirty laundry
Throw one another under the bus
Politics has become a disgusting battleground
All respect cast to the wind
When the gloves come off
A distasteful warzone we’re in
I remember politicians in the past
Would earn our votes honestly
The truth always speaks for itself
No place for dishonesty
Didn’t it used to be
That politicians would act like adults
Instead of immature kids
Not conceding to unfavorable results

I've never quite seen the drama that I have seen over the past few.years in The USA it's always been considered the wealthiest of political and money production and prosperity. Now I see so very differently, my hopes are with you all A.P that soon your country will retake the dignity and respect it's always had, politics is only as good as the
politicians. we are struggling in Europe too. 🌹
Well Teddy, the politicians and politics in general was never perfect, but it used to be a whole lot better than it has been in the last 30 to 40 years. In my lifetime I think there has been less than a handful of politicians that actually cared about where the country was going. I think the problem with modern politicians is that the majority of them are only in it for themselves. As long as they get rich along with the already rich, they'll smile, shake hands, kiss babies, tell lies and tell us we can't break laws while they do it all the time. They believe that because they're politicians, the laws don't apply to them, Donald J. Trump being the king of them all. He's always blaming someone else. Now he's a victim of an assassination attempt? I expect he'll soon be trying to say its Biden who put a price on his head. He's been blaming Biden for everything else. Why? Because Biden is his opponent in this election. Crazy times. 🫤
I will never see Donald Trump as a serious politician, he is a rich man of power yes, and politics he should leave to those who have the true passion for it, but he also stinks at acting. Hey I'm just being honest. And I'm sure there will be those who say, what does she know? That's it in a nutshell 🌹
A smart nutshell if you ask me. Trump was never a educated politician. He thinks his money will buy anything. And I don't think Biden is fit for the oval office either, but if Biden is my only defense against Trump, then he's my guy. We can deal with his issues later. Thanks for your thoughts and comments. 🌹

I think that my view of past politicians was seen through a child's eyes with the innocent view of what should have been not what was. Since Plato and his "The Republic" this problem has been around. His solution never came to be and the more I hear about past politicians the more I see they have always been the same.
Thanks soren, politicians will come and go. I really don't trust any politician, but unfortunately that's what we're stuck with. All we can hope for is that the justice system will make them think twice about trying to get away the usual song and dance routine (but I doubt it). I hate politics and I hate writing about it, but sometimes I can't help but blow off a little political steam. Thanks for your thoughts and visit. Keep that quill wet. 😉
You have summed up perfectly the state of politics today. Not just where you are but over here as well in the UK. Politicians lack integrity and can’t be trusted. I would add that the media are also tainted with the same brush. Dirty tricks politics. Well penned AP. Have a great day.
