To me? I think that’s right,
It’s just that I have changed my sight,
a vision that had simple beat, has turned so sour; down the street,
I now fake smile, to fit in, my mind-forged deeds; kill every sin,
lo’ in the real; I take such ease, to profit from useful hypocrisies,
thus, please reflect on what’s been done, to reclaim happiness in the sun,
monster I’m not; there is some good, please be kind in neighbourhood,
prison cell is limitation; so’s train platform “liberation”; thus
please remain, but not the same, for far too long I’ve drowned in pain,
so, here’s my wish unto myself, keep up joys, for my health,
both in coin, in mind, and form, it doesn’t matter about the swarm,
I care for you, as you are me, look at the mirror; and you will see,
all our pasts; crying so, telling us to step in tow,
our voices act as birthday bumps, relight heart’s fire, hear the pumps,
and with all this, I am surely through, happy birthday, me and you.

- Comment from author about the poem: It was my birthday recently, so I thought I would do something novel, write a meaningful birthday card to myself. 2024 has been rough, but so have the last ten years. My heartache and my brain drain has been; and still is; comprised of both my harshness to myself and the general sad operation of our species that remains unrevised. So with all that said, with the candles in the banner picture, I make a wish and blow them out, but I hope that such a wish isn't extinguished and can be realised, as the evolutionary rut, both individually and humanly; that has acted as such a stifling stall, needs to change for the better. I hope that you enjoy reading this somewhat self-indulgence, I hope that it is somewhat relatable, and as always, please do stay safe everyone.

And why not wish oneself a happy birthday?
Thanks for reading my self penned card sorenbarrett, and yeah, I think I need to wish myself a lot more.
I hope that all is well.
Aww, I've so missed reading your wonderful posts thanks to my own life being too topsy-turvy for hanging out like I used to. So we're both November babies?! And both likewise with auburn tresses, albeit yours are a tad shorter than mine? Many Happy Returns of the Day! Happy, HAPPY Birthday, dear Ben [isn't it? Or correct me]!!! This is too loverly and winsome, sufficient to charm the pants off anyone. Beautifully rendered with a playful poignancy and excellent details. Thank you so very much for sharing. Belated Happy Birthday again!!!
