Lying & Truly
Let’s not kid ourselves
shall we ..
There seems no point
in us now
pretending everything
is still okay ..
When it gets this bad,
even the thought
of turning back would
be pointless
and therefore serve no
useful purpose ..
Yet if I was to say I am
not bothered
at all, by the thought of
us both letting go,
or that I was not just a
tiny bit scared,
then would most surely
be lying & truly,
so whose kidding who then ..

Unsure if you are in dialogue with a single person, an entity or existence itself, Neville.....
Now when you put it like that ... nah' a gentleman n all that .. ππ§π
Neville this poem speaks to the heart. I have felt these feelings before myself. So nicely composed in the form of a letter speaking to the other party. The format of it makes it so personal and here are feelings that many of us have sensed at one time or another.
Thank you most kindly my friend .. Neville
How do we say good by, turn away and walk into our own tomorrow?
It should be easy but it never is, is it
Wonderful write, Neville! I know this expression well in my own life! Thank you for sharing! Well done, my friend! πΉπ

Cheers Tony .. Neville
You're welcome
Ooh! Michael Drayton's lines come again to the fore, yet with a lovely 21st century twist. [https://mypoeticside.com/show-classic-poem-9250] La, seems it's been ages since I read that one and now--! Beautifully rendered with excellent humor and that classic subtly haunting poignancy, I love it! Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for indulging me Missy ππ
Powerful work. Fantastic.
Many thanks for stopping by Thomas .. Neville
It hits a bit softer when it is mutual, and a lot harder when it is just one calling it the end. The tone of this poem is of a pretentious voice of someone really and truly hurt by the breakup. I liked how it opened and closed on the words, "Kid' and "Kidding." It's as if the speaker is doing the pretending. - Phil A.
Many thanks Phil .. That'll do nicely my friend .. Cheers, Neville
Thatβs a speech I need to memorize and utilize because it said thereβs no disguise when you hit a certain point itβs like smoking a bad joy who needs the next one and you donβt really want your mind altered. Do you want to see it and this is perfect thank you.
Many thanks Bobby .. who sang life's a drag eh ..
This song plays in my head often when sleep is reluctant. Thanks.
Cheers Dan, the only thing I can suggest is make like a horse and try and sleep standing up .. it tends to work for us stallions ππ§π
You will get to that place where all is wonderful Neville.
Andy
